It's one of the first shooters that combines First Person Shooters with the diablo style loot system and RPG upgrades. That is in addition to a really big open world. The games are slow to get started but when you get into it, around level 10 or so, the games get really good.

Personally I have played the games solo but I hear that they are even better in co-op.

There's really no reason to play the first game. I'd just start with the second one if I were you.

Looking forward to this but I'll probably wait a few months for a sale, especially because there's inevitably going to be an assload of DLC like there was for the second game.

Thats a fair way of putting it, but just throw a megaton of politically incorrect names and statements, more foul language (not in a tastless way though) and some brilliant comedy and thats you.

In fact, think if Fallout 3 + Diablo + Conkers met at a rave and had a fraky love child, yea i think that would work.

I played the first and recently picked up the second and i agree with Apt in that its not worth getting the first (unless you find a cheap copy) if your in the UK i know Tesco have had the double pack on sale for £7 lately so for very little money you can have a helluva lot of game. I know of people sinking easily 300+ hours into this game, the only ones i have done that with are the Final Fantasy games and the Elder Scrolls games.

Id recommend watching some youtube videos on it to get a flavour for how the game is set up though.

Hopefully that will help you know the calibre of the game.

I'd only skip the first if you're strapped for time or cash. I loved and played the hell out of the first one. And while it might not be as polished, it's still a fanfuckingtastic game. Plus it introduces you to the world, characters, etc.

I rented the first one not long after it originally came out and i think i got 915/1000 of the original achievments in a week. this was the first game i ever got so far to getting the 1000/1000 mark and im determined to do it this time round. I thouroughly enjoyed it and i will pick it up again (sadly deleted my saves so will start again)

I shut down my life for the Malaz books.

Need to get into Fallout 3 but cant stop playing super smash bros on the 3ds. The online play is very smooth and I love the games.

It plays exactly like 2, besides the gravity moon stuff, which is cool.

Its basically a huge DLC. Kinda the way New Vegas wasnt Fallout 4, more like Fallout 3.5, but they're still awesome.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

So effectively TPS is more Borderland 0.5? (obviously with the better mechanics of 2)

Sounds good :) I have now added to xmas list haha.

I will be playing a lot of 2 tonight as my wife and sister in laws copies will arrive so i can play 4 player yay. (so far played solo or with 1 friend)

Oh man! Just got my hands on this today! Is there anything more satisfying then setting up an enemy with gun fire and then finishing him off with the "butt slam" - man o' man!

And the lazer guns put the PEW into "pew pew pew!"

I was going to post-pone buying the game until after Christmas because I wasn't that interested in the game. Then I watched one quick look and got a massive craving for Borderlands.

I've put a couple of hours in so far and it's great. I am playing with Flag Trap as well, I like that I don't have to worry about air and his skill trees are crazy. I love the random actions skills. The uncertainty of what will happen when you active his powers is exciting.

I got a bit annoyed at how many times I was getting Blightbot, until I got a rubber ducky inflatable ring and started bouncing around shooting members of Pink Floyd. I will have the pirate ship action package or I will have vengeance.

I wasn't able to get the game on Wednesday as I had originally planned because of what was going on in Ottawa, but I bought it yesterday, and holy is it ever fun! I'm playing as Nisha, the Lawmaker. She's fun, so far! Her ability is kind of neat.

Just found a Legendary laser gun in Stanton's Liver called Excalibastard. You have to have a badassrank of 2500 to pull it out of the stone:
