Huh, so legendary engrams drop rate actually depends on your Light level? I just assumed they started dropping once you hit level 20. Well shit. In that case, I guess I should probably spend a little to upgrade my armor since I believe that increases its Light rating.

I did get my first legendary engram from leveling up the Cryptarch rep today, but it deciphered into a blue helmet. Talk about disappointment.

As for tracking targets in PvP, it's just something you have to get used to. It also doesn't help that this game has a terrible field of view. I feel like my character is a cyclops or something.

Have you SEEN those helmets? XD Restricted vision is to be expected. >.>

I'm not sure, to be honest. I definitely feel that my Legendary drop rate has gone through the roof since hitting Light level 23/24 - but then, Stalker seems to have a fairly average drop rate regardless. Definitely upgrade your armour a bit though, as that does increase its Light. (And Obdi will tell you; the max Glimmer you can have is only 25k anyway...wtf...)

The rate of Legendary Engrams decoding to Legendary gear is a bit low, yeah. I've lucked out several times now, but it still feels a bit silly to have so many Legendary Engrams turn out to be something far less impressive - it's disappointing enough when Rares turn into Uncommons...but combine the low drop rate of Legendary ones to start with and...yeah...kinda disappointing.

There's a special place in hell for the Cryptarch.

So, had four legendary engrams so far. Finally got one as a drop, whereas the other 3 have come from leveling up this bastard. All of them deciphered into blues. But wait! I did end up getting a legendary weapon today from a blue engram. Which was cool for about 5 seconds until I realized I'd gotten a machine gun. What a bastard.

My first legendary engram gave me an exotic heavy machine gun! though I could also say that my only legendary engram gave me an exotic heavy machine gun!

What guns do you guys prefer? I prefer full auto primary (scout rifle gets me more headshots but full auto gets me more kills in general), heavy machine gun as the heavy (rockets seems oddly underpowered) and find that its necessary to carry both a fusion and sniper rifle under special.

Tough question. I love Hand Canons for the feel and one-shot-ness, but I tend to go for Auto Rifles as they have plenty deep mags and, once upgraded with a Fitted Stock, handle excellently, and most of mine also have mid-range scopes on them, too. I do like Scout Rifles, but they just aren't as easy to use. That being said, I have a Hand Canon with explosive rounds...that's fun. And it has an 11-round mag (how...HOW??! XD) so it's pretty cool.

Special weapons...I keep one of each on hand. Snipers see rare use, unless I *know* I'm going into an outdoorsy boss battle or something, but I like to keep one around. Fusion Rifles are OP if you use them right, and it's probably my default go-to Special. However, I have this auto shotgun that I'm REALLY partial to. It has become my "OHSHIT" gun, my "Goodbye, Boss..." gun...it's brilliant. On paper, it's not that strong - only 178 damage, compared with my Fusion and Sniper which are hitting in the low 220-240 range - but the fact that it puts four rounds rapid into the face of whatever is in my sights...yeah, I can't count the number of boss battles that have been won, barely, because I pulled that one out as a finisher. XD
(I accidentally dismantled my first one - then I was stuck with one that was full auto, but had half the fire rate...even though it had 220 damage, it was nowhere near the potency, as its DPS was drastically lower. I was overjoyed when I found a replacement version of my earlier shotgun! Now I keep it around. You know, for close encounters. ;))

Heavy...I currently am using a Legendary Machine Gun called 'Zombie Apocalypse'. I keep a Whisper Rocket Launcher on standby for when I need direct explosive punch, though - I, for one, feel that RLs have seen a huge upgrade since the beta, where they really, really felt underpowered. And the last one I used was pretty effective at taking down bosses, too. Velocity is really important for them, though - as much as good aim is useful, it gets wasted when the enemy has a teleport ability and just blinks out of the way, or when their shield *just* edges between the rocket and your target. Also pretty good for groups, when my Super isn't charged or I'm saving it for a boss.

Did you see my ? Woot lvl 23! I finally have atleast all blue armor/weapons. I love that blue hand cannon it packs a punch. I still prefer my Pulse rifle though. I got 6 blues today farming that turned into Motes and Strange Coins!!

Ah, generally I don't get them from farming - they usually drop while I'm doing something else (Patrol for bounty, daily heroic, or strike playlist or something) completely random.

One of the best farming spots is on Mars - there is a cave opposite a small bunker, and both Vex and Cabal spawn in turns there. Just run from one side to the other. If I have a bounty for Tears and no missions to go on that would get them anyway, that's where I go.

But yeah, most of my legendary engrams have dropped from some random Dreg in the middle of a firefight somewhere in the middle of a mission. XD

There are 3 places for subclasses but only 2 filled on each class. When is the 3rd available or is that gonna be filled with the Ex: Packs?

In the beta and before, you could 'lock' one of your subclasses, making it impossible to change and increasing the all the stats in it by 10%. (Armor/Agility/Recovery). They removed it for release.

Don't know why.

Most likely so people don't lock their class before the third spot gets revealed. XD

There wasn't a 'third class'. You got a second version of whichever class you locked that you could play around with.

There will def be a third subclass eventually. Free or DLC. Every class has the opportunity to specialize in two of three damage types. The third one seems an obvious point of growth.

^ this.

That's why I said 'revealed'. Just because there wasn't one, doesn't mean there won't be. Just because you could lock a class in the beta doesn't mean they didn't scrap or delay the appearance of that feature. XD

Doing the Queen's Wrath stuff. Nothing all that special to the event so far, just some extra bounties and unique rewards. Her ship looks cool as hell, though.

Did one of the QW's missions and got a legendary robe as a reward, so that was sweet. Was kind of obnoxious to solo, though. Really wish they had a matchmaking system in place.

Can someone do a breakdown of what the legendary items are, and such? Like are they just the best versions of items? What is with the colours?

I'm a tad lost when it comes to classes of items. Like I've been picking up green engrams and getting them decoded by the Cryptarch, but that's about as far as my knowledge goes.

It's a way of classifying the quality of loot that is commonplace in most MMOs/loot-based games.

In Destiny:

White-Common
Green-Uncommon
Blue-Rare
Purple-Legendary
Orange-Exotic

Each tier is better than the last. A level 20 legendary will have better stats than a level 20 rare. Within each tier, though, it's largely personal preference - do you prefer light, intellect, or discipline? What special modifiers do you like your armor to have? There isn't exactly mind-blowing customization options, but there's definitely room to tune things to your liking.

Ah, now it makes a bit more sense! Thanks for the rundown. I'm only Level 15 so far, so I likely haven't seen much beyond white and green.

Follow-up: Events (like Queen's Wrath), are pretty much Lvl 20 and up yeah? I mean there would be no point in trying it out when I wasn't. Or could I even do it at that level?

/sorry for being a n00b

I'm not sure if it's restricted to level 20. Try going to the bounty issuer and see if you can get the bounties. If so, those are worth doing now. You'll get an item from each bounty you complete that allows you to run through a story mission for the Queen. Save that for when you're 20, as the story missions will have a chance to give you legendaries. That's assuming it would even let you do it before then, and I'm guessing there's a good chance you can't.

It does seem to be worth the time. While the rep reward items aren't great unless you're into the aesthetic stuff, I got a purple chest as a reward from the very first QW mission I did. From what I've heard, a purple chest/helm/weapon isn't all that uncommon to get. Seems to be better odds than farming the cave then hoping the Cryptarch doesn't continue crushing your hopes and dreams.

Hey! Be nice to the Cryptarch! He's given me mostly purple-for-purple on average! XD

(MY CRYPTARCH. HANDS OFF! *hiss*)

I'd forgotten Queen's Wrath was starting this week, I'll have to jump on and get into it (I haven't played since the weekend, for some reason...:S).
