Well, shit! We lost Picker and Whiskeyjack. I wonder if they were roled or if the majority of town is just RI and Bridgeburners, with a few roles like Crokus as a vig or something, maybe Mallet really can heal, etc. But obviously not everyone would have a role in the game, maybe not even Whiskeyjack. Obviously I need to revisit my character list.

I feel like we could have reallllly used Macros around during endgame. Damn. I feel bad for Lock, he just made one or two mistakes and got unlucky. Clearly was being honest about trying to play town well and mostly did, it was just a few things together that put him on the rope on day 1, a lot of it out of his control.

Also I think both scenes were great! Did not see either one coming, particularly loved the card game, was cool to see my scene as a transition between the two. :) I like how you're writing the characters into the Mafia game rather than trying to stick to exactly what happened in GotM, it makes the scenes much more believable and natural when they are placed in real context of who dies, etc. Very cool and good grasp of how each character would act.

@Macros

Thank you for playing my game. It means a lot. It was a shame you got targeted for the night kill after making yourself seem lynchable. It was a pleasure.

Rikkter - Macros - Sergeant Whiskeyjack

You are Sergeant Whiskeyjack a member of the Old Guard. Your real name was Iskar Jarak and you were a mason before becoming a soldier.

You are RI

Ability -

Deck of Dragons Each night you may submit to me the name of one alt, you have to guess which player that alt is. If successful you gain much rep from your peers.

So basically no ability then :)

macros - worst alt guesser ever

I'm going to go ahead and suggest we keep the same rules, but you send out new role pms, without the deck of dragons bit in it to all whonrecievedbit, so mafia don't have a safe claim off silchas wanker play.

Surprised how long it took for Denul to draw attention after flooding the thread after being called out.

I am surprised they have not responded to anything. The Dude is usually great at wiggling out of a lynch. If I was Tiamatha or Denul I would build a case on Monok, get him lynched and by extension pi themselves.

Now for a scene.

The fog lay heavy on the city of Pale. The sun burning bright in the sky trying its best to disperse the thick grey cloud but evidently losing its battle. Fiddler strolls alongside Tattersail. After the events of last night they are wary and on edge.

"You do me that new set of cards?" Tattersail asks. Fiddler glances across at the big lady. He considers lying but he knows she is too clever for that.

"I thought Hedge swapped my cards with yours. They had cards that I hadn't seen before and they looked like they had a new lick of paint. It wasn't until this morning that I realised". Tattersail's eyes quickly rolled over Fiddler. Not many people can read the Deck of Dragons, not properly, not the way she heard Fiddler can. He was a natural. She wanted to know if he knew about his gift or not. Yet, she was not going to ask.

"What happened Fid?"

He heard the anguish in her voice, and he felt the cold pang of sorrow and regret.

"Sorry took a sharper from Hedge, it looked as though she was stopping him from killing us all, but she wasn't, she was planning her next move. It could have been any one of us. No one was safe, only Whiskeyjack left the room first. She followed and did them both in with the munition"

"No she didn't" Fiddler eyes widened.

"You mean Whiskeyjack-"

"No, I mean Sorry. She must have escaped through a Warren, you have to find her Fid or bad things are going to happen."

"How do you know?" Fiddler asked

"I did a reading last night, the first 3 cards came out High House Shadow, The Rope, The Bridgeburners. They are all involved. If we don't find Sorry she is going to kill us all" Fiddler sighed. He knew he should have left his cards alone. He knew because he had read the same thing. He had come to her for help and now she is asking for his.

Sorry crouched low. She watched them walk. One mistake. One separation from the group. That is all it would take. She moved silently into the shadows.

I could see an inheritence mechanic in play and it would make sense given the numbers. That or 2 killers and a single symp perhaps..which I think is more likely. But again, I go back to my belief that we are reading to much into to flavor being presented by PS. I think we are limiting ourselves if we don't explore outside of what has been written in scenes. On a side note, this was a constructive response to a little information prodding I had done. It makes me less suspicious of Kilava. Whereas if Kilava had blown up and come at me with a 500 word counter case and voted me... I would have been much more suspicious of her. Hence my reasons for questioning Okaros in my above posts.

This could come back to bight you in the ass if they ever get Sorry.

Thanks for that. I think it was because it was late at night and I was trying to imagine myself in the pub/tavern. I wrote fuck about 100 times and realized they use Hood and Fener for cursing in Malaz, so I went back and added a few Hood's hairy ball sacks and that ha ha, not that I am any good but I am enjoying it. Yes I spell things wrong, and I jump from first person, to 3rd person in the same paragraph's but I never was good at English

Okaros, on 14 March 2014 - 06:01 PM, said:

That's one thing I ALSO tend to forget when writing Malaz stuff, the curses they use are not the same. :p Regardless, fun flavor from the scenes, keep it up.

I just HAD to reply to Bek in my traditional, long-winded fashion (I'm sure I'm easier than hell to alt, lol), because his post really does seem scummier the more I read it and his reasons are bullshit. Hopefully pulling a counter case will weasel me out of the spotlight and put it back on him. :p We'll see if I'm any good at that.

If it gets me lynched, well...I couldn't help myself. :p Even if I don't get lynched, I'm sure it has made me an NK target, just like Rikkter.

Man, no one is posting. I guess it hasn't been a full week since the game started, but still, damn. Half the players are under 10 posts... Hard to play the game without more interaction. Frustrating because I will inevitably end up getting focused on something minor or relatively unimportant and miss the opportunity to find real scum. I hope GL does not try to push the lynch on Eloth; I'm going to have to deflect by agreeing and looking at Tiam instead of Eloth, hopefully in a quiet way. Any obvious sympage is going to get Eloth (or me) lynched. And if Eloth gets lynched I'm sure I'll get NKed and everyone will go WTF WIFOM on thread. Hmm.

Okaros, on 17 March 2014 - 06:17 PM, said:

Well, if Bek is scum, then he played me pretty well. :p I hope that he is not, because I am going to back off him for now; with so many other people not posting, there are other places that need to be looked at.

Ganoes was devastated when he found out the news.

He had left Tattersail in search of Toc the Younger only to find himself caught in a long conversation with Tayschrenn. Apparently the High Mage knew exactly why Ganoes was in Pale. Not only that but he had direct word from Adjunct Lorn. She was on her way to Pale. Paran could only guess as to why. He looks at Tayschrenn who only lowers his eyebrows. No answers there.

In a foul mood he leaves and again resumes his search. He gets wind of a card game involving a bunch of marines, without anything better to do he heads in the direction of the cavern.

Quick Ben and Kalam follow Captain Paran through the streets. They see him duck into an abandoned hut. A little time goes by and he comes out looking a little angry. They wait a little while and are rewarded by the appearance of High Mage Tayschrenn. Exchanging a look they set off after Ganoes. He stops to talk to some marines and finds out about Fiddlers' card game. After finding out where he is heading they race to get there ahead of him. They do not want to be noticed by their lack of presence.

On his way to the cavern he met Toc the Younger and Dujek. Neither looked happy and that is when they told him what had happened. They head to a different bar and drink Quorl's milk, darkness ensues.

Niceeee Kesso is onto GL as well. Now we have three targets at 2 votes each, will be interesting to see if anyone changes their mind or if the lynch is going to be determined by who shows up in the next 6 hours.

I am desperately trying to protect Eloth but there is very little I can do because he hasn't posted in forevvver. If anything I'm sure it's better that I get lynched than her, so making myself a target by either overreacting or being defensive is probably better than trying to deflect from him. Ideally, though, we will get rid of the scummy low poster GL. :p Assisted by other low-posters.... #ftw.

I do expect the game to pick up. The finders are understandably laying low. The killers are also understandably laying low. It's up to the RI's to impose themselves on the game more.

I hope I am not at fault for giving 4 people off thread comm's.

It's not clever if it is spotted :p

No Azathmaster is Tayschrenn, he is indeed Kessobahn.

I have left Shadowthrone and Cotillion scenes out until Sorry is found/lynched.

Also I now have to seriously speculate on whether Tattersail is roled or not. My gut says yes, absolutely. Otherwise, why bother telling me who she is without letting me talk to her? For one RI to know another is a pretty minor advantage.

If she's roled, then I may have to go to lengths to protect her if she is about to be lynched. And I wonder if I can rely on the rest of town to believe me if I do partially reveal, especially Mallet (who I am assuming is in the game and the healer - actually I'm assuming almost all players are Bridgeburners or Malazan Army now), so that he can heal either her or me, depending on if one of us is lynched, and if we lynch someone else, heal her. It may make her a target, and maybe it's too early in the game to do this, but maybe it's exactly the jump start this game needs to get people playing. The likelihood of me dying through a lynch or NK after doing that would be pretty high though, so I would have to assume my time is limited. Might be worthwhile to put a code in one of my posts for the hell of it. There's been so little action and information this game that I don't know if more info is going to hurt the game and sow suspicion or rally town together. Unfortunately, I've made myself a bit aggressive and so people are probably less likely to believe what I say regardless, but that's just a bridge I'll have to burn when I get to it. :p

Well, I guess I can update my list.

1. Ganoes Paran - Okaros (town)
2. Tattersail - Eloth (town)
3. Kalam
4. Whiskeyjack
5. Quick Ben
6. Tayschrenn
7. Sorry/Cotillion (possibly separate characters?)
8. Hairlock (?) - Silchas Ruin (town) (dead)
9. Adjunct Lorn (?)
10. Toc the Younger/Fiddler/Hedge (?)
11. Tool (?)
12. Oponn (?)
13. Anomander Rake (?)
14. Kruppe (?)
15. Crokus (?)
16. Rallick Nom (?)

So, new list. I know the scenes don't have clues but they ARE all about the Bridgeburners and related things so far, nothing in Darujhistan, so I'm thinking that Bridgeburners are the primary town "faction" and obviously one of them is a killer (Sorry). I wonder if she isn't killing alone and has two symps maybe, with an inheritance mechanic built in.... Cotillion possesses someone else if Sorry dies. That would make more sense lore-wise than to assume a Bridgeburner or someone else is directly helping Shadow by being a paired killer with Sorry.

Actually I need to think about that a lot....what if there WERE two symps who knew their killer, making 3 scum? Something to watch for on a reread. For now, the list:

1. Ganoes Paran - Okaros - (town)
2. Tattersail - Eloth - (town)
3. Kalam
4. Whiskeyjack - Rikkter - (town) (dead)
5. Quick Ben
6. Tayschrenn
7. Sorry - ? - (scum)
8. Hairlock - Silchas Ruin - (town) (dead)
9. Adjunct Lorn
10. Toc the Younger
11. Fiddler
12. Hedge
13. Mallet
14. Blend (?)
15. Dujek (?)
16. Picker - Lock - (town) (dead)

So who does that leave for scum? Either a player I've not included, or possibly Tays or Lorn.... since they are both acting on Laseen's orders. The problem is they aren't assisting Sorry directly in the book, but rather just opposed to the Bridgeburners. Not too far of a stretch for a game though.

High Fist Dujek stands at the head of the barrow. Next to him Ganoes Paran and Toc the Younger on one side, High Mage Tayschreen and Tattersail the other side. The Bridgeburners form a circle around the barrow and each of them donate a piece of their armour to honour Whiskeyjack. Kalam lays down one of his knives. Fiddler lays down one of his cards and so it goes. Quick is second to last and he lays down a black pebble. He looks across at Kalam and says he might want to return at some point. Finally it comes round to Hedge. He wants to donate something special, something Whiskeyjack would appreciate, and the only think he can think about is his last Cracker. He pulls it out of his sack and everyone takes a step backwards. He places the Cracker and Dujek says a few words.

Meanwhile, two figures stare down on the scene below. One cackles and one looks solemn. Their plan is working. Shadowthrone opens up a Warren and starts to pull some threads.

"... was loved by all. No one could have foreseen-" Dujek was saying.

"Yes they could have" Fiddler accused, looking straight at Hedge.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Hedge asked

"In all my years of knowing you Hedge, you have never let anyone have one of your munitions before" Fiddler replied

"What is your point?" Hedge asked

"Is it not obvious?" Kalam drawled

"No, I want him to say what he is thinking!" Hedge scowled

"Are you working with Sorry?" Ganoes asked

Toc's eyes widened. Even Dujek turned to look at Ganoes. Ganoes had never been one to be coy. They were thinking it, he said it. That is all.

Without warning Hedge ran at Ganoes and punched him in the face. Hands grasped Hedge but he would not be controlled, he shook them off and started to kick Ganoes repeatedly. How dare he ask that of him. How dare he think Hedge a traitor. He will show this Hood forsaken noble born how Bridgeburners react.

Tattersail and Tayschrenn are looking around, they feel uneasy. Something is at work but they do not know what. Quick Ben is also deep in concentration.

Mockra is ever a subtle magic. Those adept at Shadow may manipulate it coarsely, but Shadowthrone is not just adept, he is a God.

Hands grab Hedge and pull him away from Ganoes, they fling him backwards and he falls on his arse. There is a loud CRACK, Hedge had landed on the cracker he placed earlier. Suddenly each person around that barrow snaps to, they were all under some sort of spell. Fiddler's cry of anguish is too tough to bear.

Hedge is dead. He was Gust Hubb and Town.

Tattersail and Tayschreen explained that Mockra had been at work at Whiskeyjack's barrow. They did not realize until too late and by that time Hedge was dead. If the cracker had not exploded though there could have been a lot more trouble. Quick Ben now knows what went on, at the time he knew it was happening but was trying to figure out where it was coming from. He knows he should have acted sooner, and that if he did, Hedge would still be alive.

After the incident in the barrow; Fiddler, Kalam and Quick had gone back to Pale in search of food and alcohol. Too much was happening, Fiddler and Kalam needed to drink to ease their minds. Quick needed food, he needed to think things through.
