10k us troops..101st ..3 miles from the border paired up with romainian units.. US entering the war to take Odessa airfields?

Biden trying to save face.

Note Russia secured a 300km ground to air kill..not smart.

Superfolish move to put all those troops their for a photo op.

My fear has always been all these little wars US engaged on, its not ready culturally for what this war would bring.

The US is not going to send troops into Ukraine short of Russia attacking NATO territory or detonating a WMD. They're there to dissuade a Russian attack on Romania or Moldova.

It sounds like the Russian assault on Bakhmut, which has been going on for weeks, has finally been repulsed. Ukraine seems to have regained ground and the Wagner forces assaulting the area have partially withdrawn with "very heavy" losses. The 93rd Mechanized Brigade, one of Ukraine's most experienced units, has reported heavier Russian casualties then any front they've fought on since 2014. However, some indications that the Wagner forces may have recycled in their convict conscripts and used them to hold the line whilst their half-decent units withdrew, maybe all the way back to Russia.

Mixed reports from Kherson, Russia seemed to be withdrawing forces across the Dnipro but some indications that fresh units have arrived to reinforce the city.

Looks like the Ukrainians have advanced significantly along the line in Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts, encircling and destroying a large Wagner formation near Bahkmut and making major inroads around Svatove. Some speculation that Ukraine again heavily focused on Kherson, so Russia moved troops into the region and has then hit back in the Donbas.

Save face from what will probably go down as the worst American times

“ Every war ends with diplomacy, and this one will too after Ukrainian victory.”

- The war party.

This same party inside 24 hours stated we must tone down the antics… as we sleepwalk right into ww3…the dems have wanted this since 2014. They supported a war where the Ukraines are being used as a us tool.

This party is straight up unrecognizable. It’s disgusting really. We should refer to this current party as the reign of terror. I can’t rightly understand anyone supporting this parties antics.

“Why, of course, the people don't want war. Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship."

Ah yes, quoting the Nazis. The best of rhetorical choices. Really appeals to the readers sympathies.

I'm pretty sure the Ukrainian people want war as long as there's invaders in their territory.

The Azov Regiment was founded in 2014 by dubious far-right Ukrainian figures who later left the organisation, which underwent a claimed "denazification" purge in the late 2010s. The success of this is disputed, with some claiming the battalion moved away from far right associations and others that it merely underwent a PR campaign to clean up its image whilst leaving some far right sympathisers in play within the organisation.

The founders of Azov moved into politics to try to swing the Ukrainian political system to the right, where they were a complete and miserable failure, failing to win any significant ground.

It should be noted that, out of Ukraine's pre-war population of 44 million, the Azov Regiment never numbered more than 2500 individuals. In comparison, the Russian far-right Wagner Group, which contains and makes use of Neo-Nazi symbols and ideology, and far right extremists, numbers over 8000, and whose members regularly post Telegram images of their Nazi-themed tattoos.

Even Russia seemed to acknowledge that Azov was no longer a "Nazi" organisation just last month, when they agreed to release hundreds of members of the organisation captured during the battle for Mariupol, and other engagements in eastern Ukraine, despite previously guaranteeing that all members of Azov would be treated as terrorists and would be tried as criminals, not combatants. The move was, in a rare move, criticised by many Russians for seemingly suggesting that the "deNazification" of Ukraine as justification for the invasion was a lie (as, indeed, it always was).

So a bunch of ships in Sevastopol were attacked "by sea drones". The glorious Orcs sailors prevented any "serious damage", but Russia is so outraged they are pulling the plug on the grain deal.

Need to wait and see what damage was actually done. The range of claims is quite impressive.

Putin put himself in a bind when he pulled out of the grain deal because he seemed to only after the fact realise that he couldn't stop the grain shipments because they're being escorted by Turkish vessels. So missing one of the grain ships and hitting a Turkish warship means really narking off Erdogan (cue Armenia-Azerbaijan and Syria all going nuts) and potentially triggering Article V and an armed conflict with NATO.

So having talked tough about stopping the deal he then couldn't do anything to stop the shipments, so ended up looking like a chump. Not to mention the optics of blowing up grain shipments headed to places like Ethiopia, Lebanon and Somalia which badly need them, which would end any vague support for him in Africa. Now Russia's rowed back and said it's only suspended cooperation in the deal and will likely reinstate it soon.

Russia wants "guarantees for the Black Sea Fleet" before resuming the deal.

Considering that from UA's PoV, the fleet is illegally squatting in occupied Crimea (not to mention the whole "shooting cruise missiles at civilian infrastructure" bit), I don't see wtf they are expecting.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's GUR (military intelligence office) reports on explosions at a Ruscist heli repair facility in Pskov Oblast (next to Estonian border), and then a video of a saboteur priming timed charges onto 2 helicopters in broad daylight shows up. Next day satellite photos confirm 3 blown up hellos.

So basically, someone can just walk into a classified helicopter airbase and blow up a couple of Ka-52s, worth 600 million each. While filming it for social media.

Makes you wonder how well the missile bases are guarded these days...

Some reports this was Erdogan brow-beating Putin into getting back on board with the deal.

I suspect the one winner from this conflict, no matter what else happens, is going to be Turkey. That could of course be problematic further down the road (if it decides it really, really wants those islands back and isn't afraid to undermine NATO to make it happen), but right now they're doing a great job of supporting Ukraine and keeping Russia on the back foot.

Also, Turkey gets gas for free until 2024, and the orcs will bankroll a "gas hub" in Turkey... One that will likely be used for gas from Qatar, Israel, Azerbaijan... Basically, everyone except Russia, b/c the EU does, t want their gas anymore.

The Turks are making out like bandits here, at Putler's expense, while cementing their influence in S. Caucasus and (to a lesser degree, b/c China) in Central Asia. The orcs are being relegated to 3red class regional player, which is great for basically everyone.

Any reliable intel on how much damage the fleet took from the drone attack?
