I believe that's true of all elves.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Watched the premiere. The dialogue is silly to the point of being juvenile, the cgi a bit weak, and most of the cast are phoning it in like they know a second season is about as likely as MTV doing away with a Teen Mom spinoff...
Yet I couldn't look away. Surprisingly entertaining. I'm in.

Actually TEEN WOLF is the very reason that you should believe SHANNARA will get a second season.

Weirdest bit...everyone in my office at work (ages 27-50) has asked me about it, and are all enjoying it so far.

As I stated up-thread, I believe they're sure there will be more seasons. They've already planted a seed to go right to Wishsong.

I have to believe my daughter (age 15) is the target audience and she loves the show already.

Agreed. Like the CW, if you aim it at teens and make it cool for teens...it will be watched no matter the general consensus or quality.

Case in point: My wife's fave show THE VAMPIRE DIARIES...is now in its 7th season. SEVEN.

And yeah TEEN WOLF (which arguably took a fun, goofy 80's movie as a premise and then teenified it for today's teens and gritted it up) seemed like it should flop hard...is now in its 5th season.

Third ep, Weaker. Plot could only have been more hamhanded if they were all carrying hams.

Was the big beefy knight demon with the horns on Ep5 meant to be random, or the Reaper? It was a pretty cool looking demon. Much different to the fast, screaming furies from the previous eps...this lumbering, dark, smokey thing with immense power.

Also, the nuclear waste site that they encounter is pretty interesting. It makes me a BIT sad that even all these thousands of years after our world perished the shit from our time is still causing problem in theirs. And I love that Crispin commented on it.

Holy Crap. After this episode, I think I'm only going to keep watching to see how badly they can butcher the original material they're allegedly drawing from. I found Ep 5 to be a complete muddled mess. While the demon they introduced was fierce and imposing enough
Spoiler

I know I'm not completely alone in this since my daughter, who just started the book, looked at me and said "Is that supposed to be the Reaper?!" And she hasn't gotten past the original introduction of it.

I'm more convinced than ever that they intend to do their version of the Wishsong. Did anyone else catch

Worse Reaper ever.
"Demons are attracted to blood!". Seriously?
...and Rover-rapist dude totally just stole the Elfstones from Wil for the sixth time.
Did like the Eventine twist tho.

This show reveals to me two things:

  • I'm so old; all the actors look like 10 year olds to me.
  • I really want to visit New Zealand.

That episode was SO. BAD. And yah it was the Reaper -- it shouldn't have been, but it was -- as the title of the episode is "Reaper". It looked decent and killed decent, but it was otherwise absolutely badly conceived as the Reaper. Also, the explosion was Hercules-level CG. Also, the Changeling sitting down w/ the dead king seeping there was so lousy. Plus the whole flashback. Man, the script was weak but that's been true of all of them....this was by far the worst directed episode so far.

Spoiler
