As a young fella, I once had a pair of pants zipped onto my head during a fire alarm at school. It did not go well.

No one I know would probably think to post here even though a few people know I am a regular. I am Facebook friends with a few forum members, this is my announcement that if they see on Facebook that I died, it is up to them to pass on the word.

Sure, love the forum to know. However, no one ever will. I doubt anyone would take the time to let you all know.... sorry. Well, I guess people who know me in RL would find out somehow...

Seems I'm in the minority but I'll say no. If I suddenly disappear I'd rather that if anyone cares they can at least hope something wonderful happened in my life that tore me away from my usual forum-going routines instead of me being dead.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

If you disappear, who the bleep is going to make graphics program-breaking Malazan timeline photos around here?

I wouldn't want anyone going out of their way to post it on here. If it came up in conversation or if someone asked, yeah sure, whatever. But otherwise no.

The thought that always gets me is: how does one see how they're mourned online? With family and friends, you can always go the looking-down-from-heaven or I'm-a-ghost-haunting-you route. But it's not like you can just Casper yourself on over to the library and pull up the forums to see how your boardmates are taking your death.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I would let the forum know that they could expect you back on in your Necromancer form.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

At some point I will die. And I've written into my Final Will and Testament that my brother must obliterate all of my online identities.

Perhaps he'd troll you guys. Maybe zombie-stormy is how I wanna go.

Will intend entirely on the specifics of my death.

However, there are two people IRL with specific instructions on my death to come to my house, re format my hard drive, go over it with a magnet, then break it to pieces with a sledgehammer before parents/significant others get to it.

I suppose I could ask them to mention it on here too.
meh. Link was dead :(

So you aren't having your porn folder projected onto a screen over you during the ceremony? Your choice, but that's usually the best part of funerals! Why I remember when my gran passed and we stumbled onto the folder named Tax Records 1955-1998 and...well, that's a tale for another time.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Kind of a morbid topic but I guess it's valid. As we are an online community wouldn't you want you the people you talk to around the world you talk to everyday to know? Say Someone just quit posting wouldn't it spike your interest why they did? So basically I'm just wondering for people that have wills do y'all have instructions with your user name and password for a loved one to let us know about it? Lmao

Ed: I put this here over the Discussion forum for traffic reasons.

No.
I want you to wonder over the mystery of my dissappearance and over time forget all my foibles and focus on my merits and come to worship my legend and eventually cause my ascension.

I would rather my porn be displayed at a hypothetical funeral than the goose shit I wrote as a teenager on the Dragonmount forums way back before I found this place. Thank the gods that place lost most of its archives over the years.

Given how little we know about Abyss, he could probably just pass along his login credentials and a few notes to someone else and we wouldn't even notice. Abyss the immortal forumite?
