For a divine all-powerful being I am surprisingly limited in my options.

The first day in the monastery went smoothly enough – to one extent or another. They had been there less than an hour when William led them up to the library study room, where he and Adso met several of the monks who worked and studied there. The master librarian Malachi of Hildesheim, a severe, humourless man with (it seemed to Adso) cruel eyes; the assistant librarian Berengar of Arundel, who seemed to constantly move to avoid eye contact when speaking with William; the translator of ancient Greek, Venantius of Salvemec, who gave William and Adso the briefest of glances before hunching back over his work. Adso had the sense that the man was feverishly absorbed in whatever he was reading and transcribing. In the warmest part of the room sat old blind Jorge of Burgos, almost holding court over his younger brothers. Whether his opinions (on anything and everything) were acceded to out of genuine belief in his wisdom, out of respect, or simply because it would shut him up all the quicker, Adso could not be certain. Further down the room could also be found Benno of Uppsala, who seemed to want to know everybody’s business while at the same time sending hateful glances in the direction of Berengar whenever he thought no one was looking; and finally Aymaro of Alessandria, who talked even more than blind Jorge, and about altogether more silly things, in Adso’s opinion. The man seemed unable to shut his mouth. And in a library study room too!

After a while, it seemed to Adso that William had more interest in perusing the enormous library catalogue than he did in any serious investigative work. Growing bored and restless, he excused himself (William barely hearing him in his fascination with the riches of the library), and went to find his designated cell, almost tripping over the snoring form of ancient Alinardo of Grottaferrata on his way to the dormitories through the quickly-darkening orchard.

Day 1 has ended. No one has been lynched.

It is now night.

“Adsho, wake up boy!”

“M...master? What is it? What time is it? I feel like I’ve only just fallen asleep.”

“Lazy novice! How can you even contemplate shleep with everything that ish going on around here? Did you not obsherve thoshe in the shtudy room earlier today? There ish more than one shecret here, boy, but I shushpect that they are all connected in one form or another. Benno hatesh Berengar, Berengar ish worried about shomething to do with Venantiush, Venantiush dishlikesh Jorge with a passion, Jorge hash Malachi under his thumb, and Malachi – along with everyone elshe I shushpect – wishesh to shew shut Aymaro’s mouth.”

“Erm, yes, I think I did see something along those lines, master. But how does any of that get us closer to finding out the circumstances of Adelmo’s death?”

“I have no idea – yet. But I have digresshed. I woke you up because we have been shummoned by the abbot. The monashtery hash jusht received news of another death – but not in here. Bernard Gui hash been murdered.”

“W...what?! The inquisitor-general? How? When?”

“In the town at the foot of these mountainsh. It sheemsh that my old rival unshurprishingly managed to ‘find’ a heretic, only thish time the poor girl’s father could not be held back, broke through the guardsh, and pushed Gui onto the pyre. He died along with the girl. Now nothing standsh between Gui and our Lord, may he Judge him mercifully, though I shushpect the chances are shlim.”

“Master! How can you say that? Few have done so much to spread the true Christian belief as Master Bernard!”

“Indeed, I am shure that ish how he will be remembered in the daysh to come – though perhapsh later generationsh will look back on hish deedsh with a different eye. In any cashe, his murder wash connected to this place and the eventsh here.”

“But...I thought you said...the father?”

“Oh yesh, but the father wash found with certain itemsh upon him – herbsh and the like – which he had apparently put on in the belief that they would provide magical wardsh...”

“So they were heretics!”

“No, Adsho, just shimple peashants who wanted to make their livesh a little eashier. In any event, these items could only be procured here at the monashtery – shomeone here gave them to him in an effort to help him kill Gui, in order to shtop him arriving here and conducting his own brand of inveshtigation - perhapsh the herbalisht Sheverinush, or that cellarer Remigio and his odd companion.”

“Severinus seems like a kind-hearted man to me, master. I would much easier believe it was that shifty cellarer, or even more likely, that hunchback Salvatore. What a strange man he is.”

“Perhapsh you are right, Adsho. But then, appearancesh can deceive, yesh? Let ush continue our inveshtigation on the morrow. But right now, we must shee the abbot.”

Night 1 is over.

Pallid has been killed. He was Bernard Gui, town, and Brujah.

To my knowledge (which is all-knowing), Brujah remains unlynched.

Wonder what? Please expand on whatever thoughts you are having about the game.

The whole basis of the game means town should not be trying to play information low.

What information? You spend all of day 1 working yourself up into a slathering rage. That's about the whole of it. I just thought it interesting with all your talk of signalling and the like that you never actually stuck with your primary target, but rather jumped around from place to place and in the end derailed your own lynch by switching safely to MO who plied the traditional suicide gesture, also very safely given that 5 more votes were unlikely to pop up and bite him in the bum, catch my drift?

It's lovely that the "erratic" accusation has stuck, regardless of evidence...

But fuck me for actually putting pressure on multiple people on day one right? Should've just stuck with one person even though no one else showed the slightest interest in doing fuck all.

And if you've not noticed, I am actually around, and could easily have switched vote, if it would've fucking mattered. MO switching his vote and disappearing may have made the lynch less likely, but I fail to see how this relates to my making a case on him more than his decision to enter into the self-pity contest.

You said you wondered about something and left it at that. I was simply wanting an expansion. You voted MO - do you agree with my whole case, bits of it, have some reason of your own, what?

Naw man, you're very intentionally a rage machine. Just irritating that's all.

I didn't resist giving an explanation did I? It's not like you're above getting prodded yourself, hmmm

And yes I see you're around. Quite a bit. A bit much. A bit much.

Actually my rage is not purely intentional. In part I certainly try to use it to prompt people. But at the same time, the standard of town play does legitimately irritate and sadden me.

And yes, I am around. I have a lot of spare time, and don't sign up to games where I can't actually contribute. Sue me.

Are you implying my level of posting is scummy?

I mean, fuck, 30 posts in a day is getting called "a bit much"?

That's just depressing.
