You have almost zero science production coming to you next round, but quite a lot of materials. So you can either have slightly fewer materials to spend next round on building ships, or decide because your science production is so crappy anyway, there's no difference in making it even more crappy, because there's not much you could afford to research either way next round.

To break it down, do you want to start next round with:

5 Science and 18 materials to spend (if you put the cube back on the materials track)

Or do you want:

4 Science and 21 materials to spend (if you put the cube back on the science track).

You have almost zero science production coming to you next round, but quite a lot of materials. So you can either have slightly fewer materials to spend next round on building ships, or decide because your science production is so crappy anyway, there's no difference in making it even more crappy, because there's not much you could afford to research either way next round.

4 Science and 21 materials to spend (if you put the cube back on the science track).

Ok, so your upkeep Venge looks like this:

15 money - 21 upkeep = -6 money = BANKRUPT!

Uninfluence Vega, and return cube to science track. Exchange 6 materials for 2 money. New upkeep:

17 money - 17 upkeep = 0 money.

2 science + 2 science in bank = 4 science.

18 materials + 3 materials in bank = 21 materials.


So Round 7 you will start with $0, 4S, 21M.

Have we picked the new techs? I see nothing earth-shattering in the tech draw, really. Most likely I'll research the uber-source.

Are we sure about a clockwise direction too? Gnaw seemed pretty dead-set on counterclockwise to prevent Morgoth getting neutron absorbers...but I see in the dredged-up post that he decided on clockwise and that was the final word?

The counter-clockwise thing was fakery by Gnaw for...some reason or other which eludes me now - but you know how Gnaw likes his devious, convoluted plotting. So yeah, deffo clockwise I believe.

I'm trying, but it's not working too good... the player boards get too messy with all the little changes of cubes moving about and discs returning to the upkeep track. I think I'd be better off rebuilding the whole thing in its current state in yEd with the base files I have.

Except, I'm going to be almost "off the grid" for about 3 weeks starting next week! (I am planning to leave my orders with Tapper/Khell and check in periodically when I can, read up and alter my orders to them if necessary).

Not as much as I'm interested in that super-source. With that I can have 5 hull, 2 AM cannon, Gluon computer, fusion drive dreads. Fun!

Not to mention that my starbases could potentially each have 2 AM cannons.

I don't see there being enough turns left or me having enough materials to make interceptor bays all that worthwhile. Conifold likewise isn't much good without a source to power it, so I'm going to have to invest in that one way or the other.
