Yep. It's a slot on the board that can be filled. That would mean that my science output is now zero!!!!

Sure. Keep in mind we're only on round 6, still 3 and a half more rounds to go and a lot can happen in that time.

I don't see our alliance winning though, other's are in a better position and we are thinly stretched with poor resources. We can influence who will win though. I think he means bullseye alliance because everyone wants to do us harm even though we aren't in the best position. Morg/CF should want us to win more battles against Tapper, Drek and Khell but they seem content to let us fight. Twelve is going to keep us busy and D'rek is a major pain in the ass. This game hurts.

Anyone can leave an alliance and join another alliance. They cannot re-join the one they were in. If there were three players in the alliance, that alliance cannot add another person because all of the tokens are in use. However, if somebody bankrupts out of the game the token is freed up.

I propose, since I really hate playing for third, that I leave the alliance. As part of my bankruptcy plan, I will attack Dr. Grievence so as to take the traitor card.

Grievence replaces my ambassador with one from Twelve. After I bankrupt out, Twelve can join the Bullseyes.

Meh, they're going to rip you off selling it to you, then rip you off when they notice you're high. It's the Amsterdam business model for tourism.

Actually it would work even better if Grievence moves his cruiser out of Twelve's way. Twelve builds 3 interceptors and moves them to 304, his homeworld, and the hive.

Grievence moves his dread to my homeworld and a cruiser to his homeworld.

They make friends at the end of the combat.

I don't know about the rest but I was pretty certain that the bolded is not correct. The only 'normal' way to leave an alliance is to take the betrayer card - which then means you can't join another.

I also don't think it would be in the spirit of the game to purposefully bankrupt out. Think of it this way - you're an actual galactic civilisation. You want to do what's in the best interests of your people. Is it in your people's best interests to destroy yourselves? :)
