Yeah I think so, 2 moves to get to the ancients, then save some cash so you have something in reserve if we decide to go all out on the centre.

Also why do you have floating resources on your playerboard? they should have gone back to the track of your choice on the influence, you don't get any resources from them. I think you only have 3 moves left.

An alternative would be build a warp portal, and come join me in 105, leaving the ancients for Gnaw.

I'm not thrilled about a warp portal in that hex, but it would give us a lot of flexibility in moving troops around the alliance... though unfortuantely it would also mean if d'rek or twelve got some ships in behind us they could cause us a lot of problems.

The floating resources have gone back to science and material. My influence move needed sorting out.

I could build a warp portal. How does that work? I build it and can move to Delta Corvi?

D'rek can move between half worm holes from round 4 onwards if she builds a shrine this go. So maybe researching starbases and placing them in Chi Draconus and Rigel would stop that action??

You put the cube back on material?! What are your resources now then, so I'm clear 15/6/4?

Re warp portal, yes you build it then can move through it to either warp portal. Certainly getting starbases isn't to put down isn't a bad idea.

Yes 15/6/4. With that I can grab Adv Labs definitely next go, then advanced materials without worrying about my economy. Other Tech will be purchased but these are my two most important right now wouldn't you agree?

Not sure I'm going to be around later, so I've left two provisionals with gnaw depending on what plan you go for, I'll let you two co-ordinate it.

I would like to hear your thoughts. You think warp portal is the best option? I could connect with you diplomatically and I can burn a material cube that way.

Warp portal is an option... I am unsure whether it is the best. It gives us options and prevents someone else building it, but it could also be a real pain later on (but also a benefit in letting us move our ships around more freely). I would probably go for taking out the ancient as preference, but was just throwing it out there as another option of something we could do, which would connect things up better. We should probably build it at some point, and there aren't many definitively better places to build it. My only reluctance is you then can't build a dread next turn if we need it, but if you are going to be building starbases to keep d'rek out maybe you don't need too. I'd expect d'rek to attack you next turn if you didn't have a counter... but if you do she probably won't.

I don't think we should form diplomatic relations, I think we will be in a lot of combats so should save that slot for combat vp, especially since we can't remove the diplomatic relations even if we wanted to.

If you do decide to go the warp portal route, you should think about leaving a ship on the warp portal by my homeworld, so you can claim it and build ships on that side of the galaxy if we need.

@ CF can you leave a provisional? I think Tapper was heavily inclined to get trade fleet, but you could leave a provisional for if he takes trade fleet, or does something else.

SUBSPACE TRANSMISSION <<RELAY VIA >> PROCYON HIGH-GAIN TRANSMITTER >>FORMAHAUT COLONY ARRAY >> DRACO SUBSPACE RECEIVER IN ARCTURUS >>
=======================================================================================================================================

Destination - Draco Leader
Origin - Old Earth, Office of SD C Fiestum
Subject - Ship recovery
Classification - Open Access
Language - English
Stardate - 2013-11-07:08:53

Draco Leader,

The human exploration ship Cabot, piloted by Captain Tim Sabian entered your sector two cycles ago and was attacked by unknown forces. We have interest in mounting a recovery operation for our lost comrades, but do not wish our recovery vessels to meet the same end as Cabot.

Know that the Directorate does not blame the loss of Cabot on your people, but we have reason to suspect your ancient counterparts' automated defenses attacked our ship. Do you have knowledge as to the whereabouts of Cabot or the condition of her crew? If you have not yet identified the ship's remains, our recovery vessels stand ready to mount a search.

We will of course submit to inspection by Draco engineers so that you might satisfy yourselves that we have no ill intention or secret surveillance in mind. With your leave, I would also like to dispatch an emissary vessel so that our people might better understand each other and gain from that knowing.

SD. C. Fiestum
==================
TRANSMISSION ENDS
==================

SUMMARY

Terran directorate offers diplomatic relations to the Descendants of Draco.

EDIT

Per IH's request, I will research orbitals as a provisional.

CANCEL MY PROVISIONAL

I want to consult with my ally.

Morgoth, can you think of a good reason why that trade fleet development is a real good idea at this stage? I'd like to get some more economy/science going with those orbitals, but the trade fleet basically equals an entire round's economic production.

EDIT

Though I can't think of much use for it other than "saving it for a rainy day", and it kinda drains down my science on something that doesn't fit well with my plans for the coming round.

REINSTATE MY PROVISIONAL - REsearch orbitals

I was going to suggest that either one of you takes the centre. This way, that player gets a building place closer to the front lines (which is welcome), I won't overstretch and we get the Planta bonus. The one worry for me is that Khell has the worst (least flexible is perhaps a better wording) starbases.

Getting it for Khell also puts him with 4 artifact-systems, which will make Artifact-related tech and developments a no-brainer the moment he has the resources.

Maybe I should take the center, build four starbases, then de-influence it and let Khell take it over?

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

This could be a good idea - yours and my territories are both pretty solidly protected by hex positioning, so both our starbases are best utilised on the front lines, so to speak.

Plus it would be cool to have 8 starbases protecting the GC :)

The mechanema minds, noting the impatience of the flesh creatures, have attempted to determine a course of action, but are stymied by the light-speed delay in communications, communications with the descendants are proving problematic in this galactic orientation. Determined not to delay matters further the collective have assessed the probable actions of the flesh creatures, and determined that discovery of the ancient hives is necessary for the good of the alliance.

As such an exploration fleet is dispatched to determine the location of the ancient hive.

The mechanema request that the descendants move swiftly to occupy this new territory and commune with the ancient ships, but request the descendants make note of the determination of the mechanema to claim sectors 101 and 105 and the ancient technology within, despite opposition from the ancients.

The mechanema have noted a plethora of diplomatic relation offers being bandied about, the mechanema urge caution before agreeing to too many diplomatic relations we must be prepared for the spoils of war.

The mechanema request the council of the descendants, is a new warp portal construction desirable? Or should the orion lay waste to some more of your ancient kin in order to reach the galactic centre.

By the time you get to the galactic centre, there won't be anything there but some really well pruned hedgerows.

I'm afraid of poking the bear and getting eaten.

Don't look at me I am small and insignificant hiding in my little corner of the galaxay afraid of all the big military boys completely surrounding me. Don't mind the puddles on the floor. I'll mop those up right away good sirs. I have a very weak bladder and my constant state of fear is to blame for my current miserable state.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.
