That is what I am going to do. Round 3 I will do the influence and explore that tier 2 hex if you like Gnaw. Unless IH can do it for you this round?

I'd prefer if you do the explore, but I can if you can't.

I would suggest it is better to do at least the influence this round, and take the double ancients next round (hopefully with a military upgrade tech to give you an edge), purely because there is a chance that an ancient will occupy the hex next round which will stop you being able to influence it.

You could influence the hex, and do the move to claim the double ancients this turn (deinfluencing 205 to pay the upkeep) without the upgrade but as you say it's 85% odds, and you don't have the production to absorb major losses this early. I'd be tempted to gamble, but it's your choice.

I want to influence the hex but turn the supernova into two science planets instead of money. Once I get advanced labs I can look to get advanced materials and Economy which will give me awesome power towards end game. If I make sure I hit the double ancients and win this go, I could influence one of each planet and get a discovery. I hope for good tech but I could just as easily get resources.

The mechanema seek to find more of the descendants ancient cousins, to aid their rise to power. Discovery of new ancient ships can only benefit our alliance.

The mechanema seek new data on what the descendants plan, perhaps they seek to join the mechanema and discover new more powerful computers, or perhaps learning how to construct orbital weapons platforms would be more appropriate to hold on to the lands gained.

The ones known as Planta, having recognised the place in the ecosystem of the three-minds-made-one and the tuneful-voices, withdraw their spores from the inner reaches of Delta Eridani. We remove from them the blessing of assimilation as we recognise that they would at present serve our purposes better as independent minds. The two races shall convince the inner galaxy's inhabitants of the wisdom of Planta infestation and assimilation.

But our hunger remains. On the outer reaches of the galaxy, a place known as Lambda Serpentis, lie worlds of rich, loamy ground and bright, life-giving light. But it is corrupted by a race which refuses assimilation. So they shall embrace destruction.

We built our attack spaceship from the strongest wood. It shall be armoured with the spiniest thorns, and it shall fire the sharpest seeds. None shall withsta...

Our allies the Magellan and Lyra have just informed us that wood tends not to survive space combat. We reiterate that it is the strongest wood, from the holy hallows of the Rockwood.

They continue to maintain that it will not be enough. We sense some trepidation from our allies, but we know not why. They ask us how fast the ship will be able to travel. We respond by telling that that it will travel with the speed of bamboo growth itself!

Silence from our allies. We understand not their worry.

Provisional: BUILD Dreadnaught in Epsilon Carinae.

Hahaha
My Lord!!!!!!!!
I have great news to report. Apparently the man machines aren't all machine after all and can miscalculate after all. They attempted to unlock the ancient sector but failed to realize that they are engaged by another ancient ship. We have additional time to prepare for the coming assault. We may yet survive after all.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

The Planta have found a particularly strong sap which will ensure that the leaf covering will congeal nicely over the branch framework, to form what you other races refer to as a 'hull'.

Confirm my provisional also.

Thankfully, even our alien-loving supreme director is capable of reason. His decision today to devote research cubits to the development of fusion drives triggered a collective sigh of relief from right-leaning Directorate Board of Directors members. I guess he realized that he wasn't going to be able to rescue the Cabot from the vicinity of the Starforge due to the ancient & Draco threats, he figured it might be a good idea to get some faster ships. TOO BAD HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY SHIPS TO PUT THE DRIVES ON.

The incompetence of our SD in this situation is appalling. Hopefully he is replaced soon with someone who has the colonies' best interests at heart.

Damn I forgot that pinned ships can't explore.

That makes plans significantly more awkward. Unless Tatts can still do that explore.

Ah well, we'll see what happens.

Research Fusion Source then I guess Upkeep -2 £1 S2 M0

Gnaw you might want to build a ship in castor so you can still do the influence before twelve can stop you.

What are your plans here? I plan to pass next and save up to get orbitals next turn. We're penned in via Formahaut for the time being, which should be a relatively easy chokepoint to defend over the next couple of rounds. You should think about the same, we're limited in the number of systems we can occupy now, and a few orbitals (esp in your territories) would help us quite a bit.

We should think about who takes the discoveries too. A good weapon or computer tech would be an asset for my starbases on the front lines, though I guess if Formahaut is the main chokepoint, we can always trade the territory so you can build stations on it.

My production is too low to both build orbitals and support you militarily. I'll take my two ancients and use the fleet I develop to support you. Alternatively, if we find that you do not need help I will get.. creative. That sound good to you?

My chance of defeating the ancients fall at roughly 85 %. I consider that an acceptable risk.

The Planta's distributed intelligence allows us to think far into the galactic future, and across several dimensions - up to three of them, in fact.

Turn 4 - UPGRADE Dreadnaught with two Plasma Cannons over two Ion Cannons.
$4, S5, M0. Upkeep @ -7
Turn 5 - MOVE Dreadnaught into Lambda Serpentis.
$4, S5, M0. Upkeep @ -10
Turn 6 - PASS.
Resources after upkeep (and without colonisation): $4, S9, M4.
