I was semi sorta planning on not having any battles this round. The movement to Iota Bootis is strictly so that she can't build there. Although with a little more thought I'm not certain that she would bother doing so this round.

Have a look at Rigel, we need her gone from that hex. My cruiser plus how many of your interceptors can you field there? You'd be able to influence it once done.

I cannot even begin to describe all the conflicting emotions you build within me, twelve. That's why I set this years semester-paper for the final year undergraduates in neuropsychiatry and applied xenhistophenalopy to be titled: An in depth study of Morgoth and twelve - With focus on repulsion and hidden desires.

Hopefully I'll be able to copy a conclusion into our diplomatic correspondence. It is unlikely though. They're just undergrads.

Thankfully, it did not matter this last combat. But:

If there is an initiative tie in a hex where an ally is present but the owner does not have ships, does the ally gain defender status?

I'm thinking of D'rek's defense of Khell's homeworld. I had her firing first in the cannon engagements simply because I had copy/pasted from 309 where she won the initiative because it was her hex. Who should have fired first in 226?

Minor Rules issue:

Tatts you said something a couple of days ago about helping someone else with point defense. Point defense only works on the missiles targeting your ships. You can't shoot down those targeting your alliy's ships.

I'm fairly sure the battle in Khell's homeworld was done correctly but it's a good question.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

We went through this before in Game II but I can't recall the outcome.

As I recall the main issue is when the point defense becomes active. In missile combat you shoot, roll to hit for each shot, and assign hits as damage. Point defense applies to prevent damage (not hits) and so it can only be used to shoot down missiles whose post-hit damage is assigned to the vessels having point defense.

Also, each weapon, regardless of damage output, gets to fire at only one incoming missile. The exception is where a player has antimatter splitter, in which case a single AM cannon shot could potentially destroy 4 incoming missiles.

Did I sum that up right?

Point Defense: After your op- ponent has rolled and allocated the dice for Missiles of one Ship type, you get to fire all your Can- nons once against the incom- ing Missiles before they hit your fleet. Each die that hits destroys a Missile. Your Computers affect the Point Defense, but your oppo- nent's Shields do not.




Q: Can Point Defense be used against Missiles as- signed to your Allies' Ships?
A: No, only against Missiles assigned to your own Ships.

Q: What if my opponent has several Ship types with missiles – can I use Point Defense against each Ship type?
A: Yes. The base combat rules state that dice are rolled and resolved separately for each Ship type.




Q: Isn't the combination of Antimatter Cannon, An- timatter Splitter and Point Defense extremely strong against Missiles?
A: It is very strong. If you are relying on a Missile-only fleet, make sure you do not make enemies with that player – or do not let him get all three Technologies.

I don't want gluons, I never wanted them. I have plus one computers on my ships as standard, shard hull gives me armour and another plus one computer. I want twelve to have gluon.
