The mechanema analysis agrees with the orions, better to uproot the weeds today, then risk letting them flourish in the future. The planta's collection of ancient artifacts is troubling, though they don't appear to know what to do with them as yet, this could have a significant impact in the future.

The mechanema analysis indicates trouble in the near future, our low tech ships may meet there match soon enough as the dark arts of science flourishing elsewhere are leading to troubling new advances from our neighbours, soon the once mighty mechanema may suffer at the hands of our opponents ships.

I suppose he could build two starbases but I don't see how that helps him.

Up to you, I'd maybe wait a bit and see what d'rek/Khell do with there moves, but they have so many moves I guess it won't make much difference all in all. I'd only send your cruiser in if you have spare moves, as the hex isn't that valuable.

The only sensible strategy I can think of is that he is going for artifact key next turn, but I think that has fallen apart? He can upgrade his ships massively, and build two starbases but they are still going to be crap. D'rek or tapper can come and help him, but that is a lot of moves so isn't too likely (and would still be fairly beatable).

Basically I've no idea, but I'm not that worried.
