Hey D'rek, Enlightened and Planta, surely we can form some sort of pacifist 'we know better because we're so patient and enlightened and mildew-ey' alliance?

Is being psychic helpful for talking to plants? Or would it make things worse?

In any case, Khell, priority for me is walling myself off from the Orion on my other side, so I expect we'll end up with a border or two because entirely walling yourself off is really, really hard.

I played a game as Draco once where my strategy was to ignore the bonuses from Ancients and instead focus on using their special explore ability plus rejecting some explore draws to actually carve out a section of the galaxy for myself that had no full wormholes connecting it to the rest. Then I didn't need to bother with ships or defences for the first 6 rounds or so and just tried to focus on getting tech, economic improvements and building orbitals before anyone could afford wormhole generator. It didn't work out too bad, but I didn't come anywhere near winning - there's just not enough science planets if you don't go much into Tier 1 and 2, I guess.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

I would say which one. But I'll just assume the Directorate and that way Tapper can't pick the Eridani.

Cool. I'll stick with the Guardians. I might hit myself on the head with a rock later when that tech board pops up, I guess.

So, Ah, IH, Diplomatic relations as soon as possible between you and I?

And I hope as soon as possible = round 3+ especially with your Positrion computers and able to grab improved hull right out of the gate.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

The mechanema seek peace and harmony amongst all races. We welcome the chance to assimilate with the biological races. All are welcome in the collective.

Just seen the rockets of celebration expansion.

Now that would change strategies somewhat!

Yeah, I thought about having those show up on the game 3 map. The Terran Union emerging from the black hole they were hiiding in. (Heechee reference). :p

Hmmm. Little early to be getting exclusionary isn't it?

The offer is open to you but I figured as the Draco diplomatic relations aren't stopped by Ancients so it should easily be accomplished without too much fanfare.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

This child of Draco wonders. Could you please explain why the mission statement would be in such an obscure sub-section?

It would be premature to elaborate in detail before we've had the Project up for peer review. However, proper Research Projects require many deliberations before one gets to the meat of things, to use a everymans term.

IH and CF - Though one should rarely trust the work of grad-students, I have before me a paper from the Faculty of Astronomy, claiming that you two are in galactic terms neighbours of Our esteemed university. If the claim is correct, I may consider a diplomatic Exchange. Recent studies have shown that peacefull coexistence leads to greater results overall. In addition, I do believe the Faculty of Law is in need of funding for a new library, and there are too few buildings around with 'Morgoth' as the unifying nomenclature.

Gardener faces jail for spraying weed killer on golf club in revenge for allotment rent hike

An incensed gardener forced to abandon his beloved Black Country allotment after 20 years took revenge on his golf club landlords - by spraying WEED KILLER on their greens.

Anthony Wain faces the prospect of jail today after admitting causing up to £10,000 worth of damage during a night-time wrecking spree at Bloxwich Golf Course in response to an 11,000 per cent rent increase.

The 45-year-old said the pristine Fishley Lane Allotments he has tended to since they opened in 1977 were 'his life', but that he now regretted taking the law into his own hands.

The Guardians of Magellan are always looking for what is beautiful and wonderful in the universe, and we firmly believe cultural diversity and symbiosis is the answer.
Our diplomatic community société au profit de la recherche d'intelligence extraterrestre has seen fit to create a botanical garden on our homeplanet to house your embassador.

We also extend our hand in friendship to the human community united under the enlightened despot known as CF. Our Fraternité pour la fermentation is eager for an exchange of goods and knowledge.

The Orion Hedgemony would like to put past differences aside. The Planta are not our enemies, we have hedge in our name and money in our hearts. We look with bright, wide eyes upon this upcoming game, with hope and excitement. Friendships will be formed, alliances will be many. We will look to make ourselves a formidable enemy but a strong friend when alliances come calling.
