With Khell to my right, I'd like Hex nr 3 as my starting hex, please, and Black as colour of choice.
So does this means that
Tapper Starts in Hex 3
CF in #2
Morgoth #1
IH/Messremb #9
twelve #8
Gnaw #7
GP #6
D'rek #5
Khell #4
What will be the first round play rotation. Is it the same as above?

@Gnaw
Originally I only had 6 colours and used the "colourize" filter in inkscape to create orange, pink and white. We could theoretically do custom colours....just sayin.
I would like mine to be rainbow please. A "safe place" for the intergalactic LGBT community
In all seriousness though, just give me whatever colour the others don't want - makes zero difference to me.

Oh. That explains the trouble I had matching them up when I made the extended VP ledger. You know, instead of just asking you then.

You're the person who gets to day 3 in mafia without realizing there's a reactionary vigilante ninja because you didn't read the OP aren't you?

Yeah well I read it a while ago and it's a bit confusing so a simple yes or no would suffice. I want to know what hex I'm starting in so I know how much access I have to the center which in turn could affect what race I choice and the early game strategy I plan on employing. I don't want to be confused because I didn't understand the OP.
Also have you decided on what race you would like to play in the next installment?

Mea Culpa. My bad. I be sorry. Since I haven't updated the OP it is mildly unreasonable for me to bitch about you not reading it properly. (It's going to be one of those days.)
Play will be in this order:
- IH/Messremb
- Morgoth
- CF
- Tapper
- Khell
- D'rek
- GP
- Gnaw
- Twelve
Initial board is:

No I have not. Do you and IH have preferences or suggestions?
(I told you that you'd like your neighbors.)

Having IH as my neighbor will definately be exciting. He is definately someone I consider strong competition and you on my other side who is a bit like Tatts in the I can't trust them to do the rational or logical move sort of way will make this next game exciting.
As for suggestions it will all depend on how you want to play the game. If you want to be agressive then go Terran, Pirates, Mechanema or even Eridani or Magellans to a lesser extent. If you want to turtle up the the Exiles or Hydran would be valid choices. Or if you want flexibility then the Terrans or Magellans would probably be the best choices. Or you could be the Decendants as no one has played that race before. I guess the Draco would be a good choice to get an early jump on the competition as you can pick the best of your explore options. I seem to remember you like to explore. A lot.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

I was thinking that having two hex access would potentially allow them to control the placement of the wormholes to their benefit. Limiting it to the one is to the advantage of the players on both sides.
There are pros and cons to the starting hex postion in the ring. In my (oh so very very) limited experience the single hex connection positions have more con than pro. (Which, come to think of it, might be why the rules have the first player in a single access hex to start with.)

I think you can trust me to not suicide out. I have a much firmer grasp of the game now. Especially the part about cubes and the graveyard. When I kept saying I couldn't afford to lose Altair I thought I would lose the production from it immediately.
And I'm fairly certain that when/if I say "I'm not bluffing" nobody is going to doubt me.

Twelve, what do you think makes nice complementary neighbors?
I'm leaning Mechanema, Draco, or Terran.
and if Terran, who should I knock out?

I've been neighbors to the Mechanema for every full game I've played. If they get going early they can knock someone completely out of the game. Terran as well with their three movements for the swarm technique if you are so inclined. The Draco could be interesting with their ability to draw two explores and pick one. There is a great chance they can get some good tiles early that would be nice to have access to near by. Of course that means that you would be in a fight over those hexes but that is the downside of being Draco. You can't get the discovery tiles and everyone else wants them.

It's the "nobody has played them" that gets me.

Do we not get an initial tech draw before we pick race?
And when do we decide homeworld orientation I forget?
EDIT: Also I hate playing next to exiles, worse than bloody pirates, at least you KNOW they are going to attack you

Want me to change to the Pirates for you IH?
I think you select your homeworld orientation in play order. You first, then Morgoth and so on. I don't know about the Tech draw. I'd assume that would be done after everyone picks their race.
