Roughly 3/4 of the way through The Blinding Knife, and still enjoying it but for one majorly disappointing event (big spoilers)

Awesome someone on the Sanderson boards already has a copy of bk3 damn near a mth ahead of time and has said it's really good! Excellent news I think.

That's Sanderson's assistant lol.

There's a blogger/regular at sffworld who has read it and he said it's really good. But granted he hypes up a lot of new books. He has a review up on Goodreads.

Yup. Check his post history, and you'll see he speaks for Sanderson sometimes.

I'm digging it, although I've already forgotten pretty much every minor detail that gets mentioned from 1 and 2 since I read the whole Book of Fallen in between. I just don't get why Weeks or maybe Orbit is making these books appear to be so "Massive". Its above 700 pages but with the font size so large its probably only 2/3 of that size if done in normal font size.

^ I'm reading in via kindle...for some reason I didn't pre-order the hardcover and completely missed its release date.

I easily read between 50-100 books a year,so details are tough..I re-read series a ton, about time for a Malazan re-read actually..

Went to a comic-con and Butcher/Rothfuss ha one about selling a modern day fantasy and word counts, interesting to get their perspectives.

http://loopingworld....3/06/wordcount/

I wonder if they do that to appeal to the reader, takes more shelf space makes people pick up the book to check it out.

I am really enjoying the depth of the plotting...really well done keeping track of it.

It makes me wonder across the board about how deep everyones motives and agendas go..going to finish this book off today.

I've started this book and it's pretty good so far. Though there do seem to be more chapters that make me wonder "what the hell is going on?" Hopefully it will all make sense eventually.

I haven't yet read the 3rd book, but there were definitely some bewildering things in the first that were explained more in the second.

Do they play more Magic the Gathering in book 3?

I don't know why but that part has always struck me as odd.

They do...and I agree it really throws me out of the story.

Just finished the first two books and I really like them.

I like Kip. Self-effacing fat kid has some good lines.

Got some good villains too, which is nice as Night Angel had really cliche villains.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I love the fact they play magic the gathering in the books.
They explain it more in the 3rd book...It's one of those classic fantasy book moments that you know has to be there.

You can clearly tell how much better this series is than Night Angel.

It's hard to argue against that from an objective sense since Lightbringer is so much better written. But I still prefer Nigh Angel because it's so fast and furious. Lightbringer is more polished but a lot slower, and less in-your-face action.

I'm now 2/3 of the way through The Broken Eye. I'm enjoying it despite not much really happening over so many pages.

I finsihed the book a while back and meant to post about it. On the whole I enjoyed it but a lot held me back from thinking it's a great book.
