Yeah it's not tabletop RPG in the typical sense. Otherwise I'd need a babble fish to understand you. Haha.

To be fair, the mechanema and planta are by far the easiest to roleplay. Pirates maybe a close third.

I don't know. The Eridani and their arrogant, imperialist persona isn't all that hard either. Or could it be that it's just my personality shining through in the guise of roleplay?

I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

The hardest part of the entire process is typing the die roll in.

The numbered list option in the board here does the re-listing for me.

And all y'all laugh at my bullet points! mwuhahahah. Harry Tuttle was wrong: the clerks do control the world.

I think I could make a good effort with the Hydrani too, and it wasn't easy to RP the Planta. Rather, my brilliance made it seem like a walk.

I am awful at RP, but would try it if you all would want to go that way.

I think you just need to make up a personality when it isn't obvious. I tried somewhat while filling for whoever it was in game 1, with the confused political disagreements between ruling parties of the Terran Union. Just make up whatever and roll with it.

You're right though, mechanema and pirates are mega easy....but you don't have to stereotype either. You could be a benign AI, or a shy non-aggressive Orion if that suits your situation in the game.

The dork in me 100% loves the idea of a fully RP'd game. It would be a bit more work, but I can just imagine some of the amazing quotes that will fly from the lot of you.

EDIT

I suppose if you're truly RPing you should RP a personality that fits with your tactics....but the game changes so much so quickly sometimes it's hard to keep your actions 100% consistent with what your RP personality would do...but I don't think anybody would get bent out of shape over it.

More fun trying to bring your RP personality to grips with the awful things you need to do to your neighbours...or making up some backstory to explain it.

I enjoyed RPing as the ascended, enlightened Lyra. The Hydrani persona as techno-wizards quickly dissolved under the barrage of squid insults.

You should know that nerds are always insulted because they aren't cool. It fit perfectly with any roleplay.

Updated the first post. Is probably final. D'rek's point about not fucking around with rules much is well made and valid. So the only differences between G3 and G4 will be the

  • alliances,
  • partial predictive tech, and
  • the way the race, play, and rotation are selected. And I'm not welded to that if somebody really doesn't like it. I think (with my vast experience) that one random person getting to make all those game impacting decisions is a bit OP. Spread them out a little.

IH can play after the 4th of October. Which puts us at ten people.

  • One game w/ somebody sitting out. I said awhile back that I'd be willing to just mod the game; given the length of the current game, I'm loathe to do that. But I will do so if needed.
  • One game w/ 10 players.
  • Two games running simultaneously
    • Who will volunteer to run Game 5?
    • Would allow others to play. Assuming there are others who want to play.

File this under semi freaky coincidence.

Short story: I bought a monitor and then looked at the reviews for it. Backwards no?

I'm monitor shopping within a fairly strict budget. Looking to run dual monitors. Rather than go with 2 identical monitors, I decided I'd be better with one good screen and one 'meh' screen as a secondary. As long as they're both the same resolution I'm good. Newegg and MacMall send me 'special deal' emails daily. Sometimes hourly. I keep subscribed to them solely because when I am looking for stuff, they're two good sources. I check my email, see macmall has a "refurbished monitor' deal. Click. Samsung syncmaster for 1/3rd retail because it's not only refurb but open box.

Anyways, looking at this review. Almost all the way to the bottom they get to the screen shots of DVD reproduction. And look who shows up:

And here I had spent an hour last month getting that same screen shot for a joke on Khell.

On the plus side if we ran two smaller games people could try out either the Planta or the Dracos as they are excluded from the larger game due to balance issues.

Still think that ban is in smaller games only, where they can wall off easily and outpace the other 1-2 players, not in big scale games...

Speaking of larger scale. For a 10 person game.

I'd be okay with a 10-player game like that. But then again, I'm okay with Draco and Planta in big games, so my opinion is not very valid :D
