They could have done a far better job with him leading up to the fight.

Considering his near complete absence from last season (He was in maybe two scenes with his helmet on) and complete absence from this season to date, they had to do something for the non-reader viewers or the impact of the Mountain Viper thing would have been somewhat lost.

I agree completely, but the "something" they landed on was just pure idiocy.

I take it you did not enjoy the baby-faced giant's training regiment. Pretty sure they stole it from P-90X. The only issue I have with that particular warm-up is finding random peasants willing to die for no apparent reason. Really though, how else is someone supposed to work on their lats in a medieval setting?

The first Mountain was so much more intimidating and scary. This new one looks like an Ohio State lineman and a teddy bear mated. And the sight of entrails doesn't affect Cersei in the least? I know Westeros is a brutal place, but to be so unfazed by such grotesque violence in any way is not a characteristic I associated with her. The smell alone would make her wretch if not outright lose her lunch. They could have shown or alluded to something more akin with Elia's murder to draw the comparison, but chose the lazy "Here's some guts and smashing and blood splatter" route which is probably because the vast majority of show watchers want guts and smashing and blood splatters and they don't care how it fits just as long as they get it. More and more I am beginning to dislike many aspects of the execution of this show.

Yes, ew. I am right there with you.

The fight was disappointing to me. They could have stretched it out a little more; as it was there was barely any emotion in it at all. They just relied on gore to make the scene impactful. I was wondering how they would end this episode; right on the moment works though.

This episode was awesome. Blood dripping from the ceiling at Mole's Town, Arya cackling half-mad at the news, Sansa honing her spider-skills a little ahead of schedule (always a major treat to read in the later books), an actual flayed person, and that final fight was nailed imo. Had a big grin on my face by the end (and only partly because of that lingering shot of open-mouthed Tyrion).

I never liked the Reek POV chapters so I could do less with him and Ramsay Bolton in the show (even though they've been doing a great job) but other than that it was another good episode. Gruesome fight at the end too. I'm sad to see Oberyn go, he was probably my favorite character this season. That actor was the perfect choice, imo.
