Yes. They always take the fastest route to their target destination. In this case, 2 routes of 7 tiles, I aimed at the southern route on a hunch. It was a mistake, my bad.

I do not. I'm gambling that most of my team has remained intact since the faction number update a couple days ago. I could have someone that can follow my actions the way Korbas could for Emu but I've not been informed of such. For this reason, and in the interest of full disclosure, here is the list of attacks that I've made over the game:

Night 1: Monok
Night 2: Emur
Night 3: out of town
Night 4: Nim
Day 5: Immortals
Night 5: Kedeviss.

I'm glad you show reason. But actually, yeah, with the FA and Rebels together, there are (I believe) at least 8, so its better to work together that to fracture with infighting before the true threat, the vord, are eliminated.
