Yep, works now. Thank God for that - my entire gameplan was based around knowing what was within those spoiler tags! I can rest easy again.

Learning from a proven winner is definately a sound strategy. That is why I am the leader of the most wonderful and glorious ERIDANI Empire!!! Now be a kind squid and tithe every firstborn female to us. We love ourselves some caviar with our calamri.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

My upkeep is posted on front page.
@GC. I pulled the influence disc from Epsilon Aurigae.

still just waiting on SS. I have PMd him and hopefully he understands the ship parts now.

I won't be here Friday, so I'm hoping to have this round 100% wrapped up tomorrow so I can post the board and everyone can mull over the weekend.

I would continue to update things, but I'll be in the middle of the woods, drunk in a canoe until Monday AM.

It shall be glorious.

Good thing the canoe is in the middle of the woods. Being drunk in a canoe usually leads to being drunk, wet, and wildly scrambling to grab onto the side of the canoe.

So kudos to you for being smart enough to put the canoe in the woods rather than the lake, pond, or river.

No, I haven't . Round 1 isn't finished until the fat lady sings.

And by fat lady I mean Solidsnape

and by sings I mean "gives me his turn updates"

RE the canoe: it will be in the water. I forgot to mention the part about the river also being in the middle of the woods. And drunk+canoe =/= wet if you're Canadian. It's a race thing. and yes, Canadian is a race. Don't even think about voicing your inevitably bigoted comments here! !!!!

Oh. Of course : drunk+canoe =/= wet if you're Canadian". I was going to ask why a canoe, but I guess it is there as a combo storage locker and penalty box. I'm curious, how do you handle elevation changes in the river ice? Play crosswise or is it a coin toss thing where the winner gets to pick ends?

Well, you could hurry the process by picking the tiles and have the info ready to upload once Snape quits farting around. *shrug* But then we'd be waiting on the squids.

And no worries, SS's actions don't really affect the outcome for next round, so if we still don't have his moves cleared up, then we can probably pull the new tiles at the very least so everyone can think about strategy for next round - even if a complete board update isn't done.

@D'rek or IH

Technically the new research tiles should be drawn in cleanup phase. Do any of you see a major issue with pulling them beforehand (just in case we don't get upkeep 100% wrapped up before tomorrow afternoon)

@ people adjacent to hives and supernova

Hives make their rolls after cleanup, so you won't know where the ancient is headed until just before we start round 2

supernova tile:

For each Supernova hex, roll two dice in the beginning of the Cleanup Phase. Add their values and the number of Technologies on the track where the hex owner has the fewest Technologies. If the hex does not have an Influence Disc, no Technology bonus is added. If the result is equal or less than the number of the current round, the Supernova explodes. All ships and structures are removed from the hex, the Population cubes go back to the Population tracks, Influence disc goes back to the Influence track and the hex is flipped over. You may move to an exploded Supernova with the Wormhole Generator technology, using the normal rules.

so you will find out just before cleanup whether it goes kerboom or not. This round it's kinda moot since you won't have any cubes in your graveyard.

A friend of mine in the army had a tshirt that said, "I'm from Minnesota where we have 4 seasons: Winter, Winter, Winter, Aug 15"

If everybody can afford their upkeep, it doesnt make a difference.

But if anyone can't afford their upkeep, it matters, as you could look at what techs are coming up, decide there's nothing good to get and then choose to trade sceince for money instead of materials, or vice versa. Alternatively, if you're removing a disc from a hex to afford your upkeep, you might choose a different hex after knowing what the techs will be.

I think I'm the only one in that boat so I will say that my upkeep is done and set in stone.

Any non-Toronto Canadian reads that with the caveat of "I'm from Minnesota where we have 4 seasons: [Minnesota] Winter, [Minnesota] Winter, [Minnesota] Winter, Aug 15" and shrugs.

But then again, it's all relative. I have a friend from Yellowknife who laughs at me when I complain that the snowbanks are 5 feet high or that it's been below -30 for only a week.

OK, looks like I will be bankrupting myself to afford upkeep (even though it's pretty obvious which hex I'll offload). I will hold off picking the tech tiles so I don't have an unfair advantage

Sorry Gnaw.

It only takes a few minutes to select them anyways. No biggie.

However, the squids haven't posted their upkeep. For whatever that is worth. Since they go first maybe it would be better to wait?

If you want to PM me the tech draw, I can post it later in the weekend after everybody get's their upkeep in. If you post your upkeep now it's pretty clear you get no advantage.

As d'rek says it normally doesn't matter, but it does make a difference sometimes. That said there is a variant where tech is drawn for the next round at the beginning of the round, the idea being that if a really good tech comes up you can more easily decide if you need to save science/pass first, but since you are playing standard rules it's best to wait until everybody completes upkeep.

Right I'm here, sorry I've been a bit tied up.
I'm practically a house husband as well as full time worker.
Give me 20 mins to read through the last few posts then I'll update.
Sorry again.
