I really needed Tapper to pin some of those ships, I was going to move 3 ships in to Twelve's undefended hex. Hmm.

Last time I checked my priority list, 'aid GP' was nowhere to be seen . Not even in the fine print. Or on the side of the paper.
Frankly, you had your chance to lead a coalition against Twelve, twice (once netting me the traitor card). Maybe three times even if you count Khell's near suicidal charge as well. Each time you chickened out "because you had other priorities" or "weren't strong enough". You can't count on anyone doing anything for you unless it is in THEIR own interest.

I cannot win, you cannot win, Twelve has been bragging about winning the last 4 rounds. You could have done something about that. I am doing something about that. You seem like you are just experimenting with new ship parts. To be fair, with Twelve's current build of 3 interceptors I would still not be able to move into that other hex. I don't see what goal you have in mind.

Don't know if we're looking at the same ship types, Tatts. Twelve has initiative over me, and missiles. I do not have hull bonuses and haven't had access to them all game. If I want(ed) to attack him with any chance of success, I'd have needed hull. Didn't get it, won't suicide, so won't attack him. He'd blow any invasion from my side out of the water.

I didn't think you could win against him but you could stop them ships from moving anywhere else.
As a side note, that is two games in a row that Twelve has been an initiative hog with glass ships.

I don't think you can describe a 7 hull dreadnought as glass...

Twelve deserves the victory, but I am going to love seeing that final epic battle at the GC for the fate of the galaxy.
I suspect there will be an additional, slightly less epic, battle for the shellworld as we pick over the juiciest parts of Tatts' corpse. Should be fun

Sorry for the hold up on my move there. I saw it late last night but was on my way to bed.
Glad this game is coming to a close and excited to see the ending!
I'm just about outta moves too, so I'll definitely be passing sooner than later.
Question RE missiles
When a player is in multiple engagements - ie deciding one battle before fighting another player in a single hex - how do missiles work. Would I get to fire missiles at both players or are they considered depleted by the first battle?

You fire them at the start of each engagement round, so if you were involved in 2 or more battles you'd fire them at the start of each battle.

IH, thinking about upgrades, do you think replacing my tachyon drive on dread with another antimatter cannon, then replacing one computer with normal drive would be better for me? Then also my interceptor with anti matter cannon and normal drive. Instead of going for initiative, go for power, reduce chance of a hit somewhat, but if I do hit I hit hard throughout?

The fight in the GC isn't going to be nearly as epic as you would like. I'd say Tatts will be lucky to take just my Dread and one starbase.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Yeah I have no illusions that I will be winning the battle, you just have too much initiative. Your starbases alone are giving me nightmares. I think I will need that phase shield.

Phase shield makes the starbases hit only on a 5/6.
cruisers on a 4+ and dread on a 3+.
You are right Twelve. I am screwed, maybe not as much if I had not bought the shell world. Just keeping that from you was a victory in itself.

I know what you meant to say, but this is wrong because a single battle can have lots of engagement rounds but the missiles only fire once.
If, say, you have 3 players and Ancients all in one hex, it would go:
Battle 1 - Player 2 versus Player 3:
---Missile Round
---Engagement Round 1
---Engagement Round 2
[...]
---Engagement Round N
Battle 2 - [Remaining ships from Battle 1] versus Player 1:
---Missile Round
---Engagement Round 1
---Engagement Round 2
[...]
---Engagement Round N
Battle 3 - [Remaining ships from Battle 2] versus Ancients:
---Missile Round
---Engagement Round 1
---Engagement Round 2
[...]
---Engagement Round N
Players draw reputation tiles
---
In each Missile Round, all involved ships can fire their missiles once. In each Engagement Round, all involved ships can fire their cannons once or retreat.

Tatts. I hate to tell this to you but you buying the Shellworld was probably the best move anyone could have done to help me especially since it doesn't look like D'rek will end up with it. It was too much of a resource drain and then I wouldn't have had enough ships to defend it. Two monoliths gave one extra point for the same resources spent. You buying it, also had the added bonus of you not being able to bring more of your ships to bear against me. An extra 20 materials invested in ships attacking the GC would have crushed me and then Tapper would have had good enough odds to make a play on Zeta Hurculis too.
Would have put me from Points leader to 6th or 7th otherwise.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.
