Can't see what Gnaws proposal could be to change this order, so:

RESEARCH: cloaking device (trade 6 money in for 4 science), put it on the top track

I'm shocked that everyone has left that tech for CF. Positron computers wasn't even on my radar in terms of techs I'd like to have.

Seriously?!

That was the tipping balance of why I took it so I would keep it out of CF's hands.

Really now?

Double checking the money/science/materials spent this round before doing an updated board. (Which, btw, would be so much faster if page 1 posts were all updated.) When I saw this earlier I was mostly wearing the PS hat so this didn't sink in.

You would rather see the species that lives and dies by the interceptor with a cloaking device over a +2 computer? When they have neutron bombs?

Edit: Sorry if that sounds overly dickish. The laptop I was so eagerly complimenting earlier has decided it doesn't like me anymore. Maybe I shouldn't have put a new MBP in the MacMall shopping cart using this one.

This is not a good time to be on my phone only.

Upgrade dread as follows:

6 energy source where there is 3.
Bay where there is an ion cannon.
Better drive where there is the current drive.
Everyone is entitled to his own wrong opinion. - Lizrad

Fusion source?

Oh. He's buying the cheap, single techs that would be of use to D'rek. Using his science buildup as a way to deny the Orion of any tech.

I forget the line. But it goes something like "losers study tactics, the powerful study strategy, winners study logistics".

The intention was never to deny the Orion the tech. She had an opportunity to grab the tech but chose not to. The intention is to max out a science track is all. Plus I can now add more goodies to my ships if people are thinking of doing something suicidal. I'm looking at you Tapper and you CF/IH and you Khell/Gnaw.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Oh and my OP has been updated through my first two actions for round 6.

Tapper isn't going to go suicidal. CF/IH will not go suicidal. Gnaw could easily go suicidal. Khell specifically told me not to go suicidal.

I'm in a bit of a quandary. If I throw everything at GP's lonesome dread in Eta Geminorum, I'll have really good odds against it. If he then moves his other dread up to fight me, he'll win handily though and probably annihilate my whole fleet. But doing that would leave him very exposed to an attack from twelve, so he probably wouldn't do that. If that's true, it's probably worth it for me to throw everything at his dread and kill it. But if I'm wrong I'll lose my entire fleet...

I don't buy the "I'm buying tech to max out a track" line. But it doesn't really affect the Squids so I'll jus..0ouch. dammit that hurt. I don't care that you're protecting your culture you ugly fish I'm here ouch. Ok, ok.

I don't buy the "I'm buying tech to max out a track" line. But it doesn't really affect the glorious Hydrani culture so I will pretend I believe it.

Please excuse me while I go have a private word with my translator/bodguard/spy.

That is quite the quandary. Build a couple of interceptors in the Hive hex. If Tatts moves both of his dreads to that hex then move your ships other than the newly build interceptors to Eta Geminorum. You will take back that hex and lose the hive hex. Upgrade the interceptors with 3 improved hulls and retreat. You may get lucky and one of them lives so you are only out 3 materials instead of 6. Then next Round you'll likely have enough science to get Plasma missiles and enough materials for another Dread and you'll be able to take back the hive hex and take out his dreads if he doesn't run like the coward he is.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

I don't think Tatts cares about the hive hex, he wants the artifact in Eta Geminorum for even more boost when he researches artifact key and for getting points through artifact link. So for those reasons I really ought to try and oust him from Eta Geminorum now if possible, but it'd be really risky!

Well you'll find out what he has planned as he makes his move before you do. The only thing you can do is react to what he does. It's always better to have the last move as I learned last game so you have the best chance of winning a fight.

Also, I tried running a simulation of twelve's 2 dreads with flux missiles, positron computers, fusion sources and fusion drives since he's researched all those, versus Tatts' dreads with an anti-matter cannon added. Really curious to see how they would compare. But the simulator crashed :p

I am thinking of grabbing plasma missiles and upgrading interceptor with them and source and drives, build a few of them as a good opener to a battle.

Then I worked out how many moves that would cost. Too much. I just don't have the income.

Speaking as Gnaw the Extended Extinct: All y'all should try and remember that that is exactly what he kept telling me about the dread in Vega. :p

My dread versus a cruiser and a dread of D'reks. I'd have 5 HP, hitting with 6 power or 7 hp hitting with 4 power. I think i'd destroy the dread before it got a shot off. Then D'rek cruiser would need to be very lucky to roll 2 sixes, have me miss and roll another six. If I upgrade an interceptor with computer, drive and cannon. To be fair, D'rek can outplan me easily enough. right now she is trying to get into my head. It is working.
