Don't let him threaten you. He knows I'm going to take out at least 1 of his cruisers and I haven't abandoned the idea of taking out 2 just to weaken his position against you. He has to make some serious influence moves to get enough actions to hurt you back, and you're in a WAY stronger position as the reacting player.
Best he can do is move to your homeworld with 1 ship, and you can build another dread in a heartbeat wherever it ends up (or a starbase for that matter).
Gnaw personally I almost think you should write off your homeworld as a loss this round. You just don't have the military tech and available actions to do anything about the attack and you will still get maximum resource benefit even with the loss of your homeworld this round. Wait to see what tech is avaiable and save your materials. Plasma cannons or positron computers might be enough to tip the fight back in your favor. Some times a tactical retreat is better than a suicide mission.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.
