Yeah that's what I thought, so it's only the 'top card' as it were that's available to research. And that changes every round yeah? Ok.
So if I explore north, I'm given a tile and I have to choose wether to influence or not. I'm guessing the best new tiles are the ones with resources on them, that I can place cubes on? Aye?
Also, is there any direction I need to be headed? I would prefer to avoid everyone else for now if possible, that would suggest north, in order to gather some shit together. I don't need to move towards the centre no?

I've updated my first page.
I'll see what tile I get.
Round 1.
ACTION ROUND
1. Explore due north.

The best systems are in tier 1 and 2, but there are also more ancients (neutral warships you'll have to conquer) present in those systems. Tier 3 systems are on average poorer, but less contested. The best system by far is the galactic center, but that system is also the most difficult to hold because of the competition. Most races benefit from spreading inwards, but tier 3 systems are limited so it might be beneficial to grab some of them before they're all taken.

There's no "right" direction to be exploring. Towards the middle, there are more Ancients (neutral ships that block you), more money planets and more science planets. Towards the outside of the board, there are more materials planets, more discovery tiles and more sparse hexes (lots that have only 1 planet or only a discovery tile). The supernovas and pulsars will also only be found in the outer hexes.
And as you already noted, there's issues of being closer or farther from other players to consider, too!

Apologies for triple-dumbass-posting, but am I getting this right? It's like risk, at the end of each round the amount of countries you control dictates the number of reinforcements you receive.
In this case the 'countries' are population squares (belonging to either home tiles or discovered hexes with influence discs on them) with tiles on them for either aspect, science, money or materials.
And the reinforcements received at the end of each round, in this case would be the said, money, science and materials.
Is that about right?
And these influence discs are finite aren't they, so you can't just throw then around?

Well it's similiar except that as long as you settle the population cubes and don't use the influence action/bankrupty to take the population cubes off, you gain x number or resources of each type even if you lose a battle at the end of the round instead of the beginning. So there are senarios where two different players can gain resources from a single hex.
Yes the influence disks are finite. Most races start with 13 influcence disks (mine starts with 11). There are a few techs that allow you to use more influence disks (Advanced Robotics (1 extra disk), Quantum Grid (2 extra disks))

You have to wait for CF to get back on-line to update us with that information. You , Tapper and I all have explored so now CF can use a randomizer to tell us each which hex we ended up with.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

D'rek says there are moves around to SS, but I don't see a move for Morgoth in post 1

SS gets gamma velorum. Pick a direction and whether you want to settle it.
GV - solid.png (34.5K)
Number of downloads: 0
Tapper gets Nu Phonecis - Per your wishes I have hooked up you and SS and colonized. Please make sure this is ok. There is no response yet RE diplomacy.
NP - Tapper.png (58.39K)
Number of downloads: 0
Twelve gets Iota Bootis. Pick a direction and whether you want to settle.
IB - Twelve.png (42.87K)
Number of downloads: 0
I will probably explore, but it depends where Twelve puts his WHs.
Further orders:

Further orders:
- Gnaw, you still need to make a decision on whether or not to settle the empty space tile to obtain the discovery.
- Khell, if you want, go ahead and post a provisional, but I think we need to stop until Gnaw decides what to do.
- Morgoth, no response RE diplomacy for you yet either.

Influence Iota Bootis. Rotate hex clockwise once where wormholes are SW, N, NE, SE. Do Not populate any planets. Yet.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Influence gamma velorum, place hex as is, with worm holes @ S and SE.
Is that a discovery tile too?

`That's one tasty system. SS, what do you think of the ambassador thing?
It has the following benefits:
1) we both get to take a pop cube from one of our tracks (money, science, materials), giving us a better economy;
2) it gives the one who attacks the other a Traitor card (for minus points at the end of the game, IF they keep it), so gives some sense of safety.
