I know this is my first time playing this particular game, but I have played similar ones. I disagree with Tatts. You're move on the sushi isn't mean. It's petty. You know you're going down and you just want to take somebody with you. The ancient is going to nuke the one hex. Tapper is going to hammer you through the warp portal.
You have managed to make me feel sorry for Khell. I didn't think that would happen for two or three more days.

IF you'd upgraded your starbases with improved hulls, you could probably have had a stab at holding him off. However with that cruiser build it doesn't look likely that you'll be able to now. I'd just retreat if i were you, and hope he doesn't kill the interceptor, and thus deprive him of the extra money. Note you can still put down a cube on your materials planet in your home system and get the resources, chances of Cf killing all your population is slim.

My first thought for this round was to build starbases, but even then the curse of not enough materials...I would have had to sacrifice some of my science in an expensive swap. I should have done it anyway probably.

Yes, that's what I was thinking with the retreat. And with the colonise. That's what I'll do then, joy.

Colonizing extra doesn't help you defend the hex because of my neutron bombs...just gives you the extra production.

I think my only hope of staving off defeat and accumulating more than a handful of VPs is to get better systems under my control. It's not petty at all...simply the best option other than doing nothing and waiting for the game to end.

And what's with getting all butthurt about playing with the objective of winning in mind? It's not like I'm being a "bad sport". The only way to win with Rho indi is to stay on the move and generally be a massive nuisance to everybody.

He could have went for anyone this round though, just Khell at this stage was the weakest.

I see, I've never actually read the rules on the traitor card before.

Didn't realize there was only 1 traitor card and that it gets passed to the next person who breaks diplomacy after me. That changes things a lot. I thought once you broke diplomacy you were stuck with the -2 VPs until the end of the game.

And my racial bonus simply negates the -2 VP, but doesn't change the fact that I have the card.

So I just need to convince somebody else to break diplo and I'll be free to enter diplo again. Right?

It's a good idea when you think about it. It keeps everybody from simply breaking diplo at the end of the game and attacking allies to scrabble together a few VPs.

He doesn't get the traitor card because he is the pirates. Or feel the benefits anyway.

I agree. Winning is winning and it's a war game after all.

a population cube gets put back on your track as well as khells, it goes in the graveyard first and then you choose what track (i think)

He still gets the card. Just doesn't lose the points.

@Khell -

we now need to choose where our population cubes go back to.

I'm going to slap mine on the money track.

Pop cubes go directly back to the track of your choice. Not the graveyard - per core rules.

I suppose I need to do a reaction build. Starbase in my warp portal world.
Edit. No. Let me think on that.

What do you need a reaction build for? Protection vs. Tapper? That guy has some serious firepower with that cruiser and high-computer interceptor. You'd need a couple starbases to get first shot and still have a good chance of surviving the ensuing rounds.
