Gnaw is freaking out about upkeep expenses of -17 after 5 explores in a row?
I'll just sit over here in the corner with my -7-upkeep-and-already-going-bankrupt...

I know, right? I've gone bankrupt for the first time ever, on -10. Stupid no good empty space hex. There are 5 more hexes still to be potentially drawn on which I could place a stinking materials cube. So I think that puts my chances of getting one at...0%.
@CF: I'm still up for diplo, yeah.

Yes you do lose the population cube but to remove the influence disk you have to use the influence action because as it stands you won't go bankrupt. So to have a net reduction in your upkeep you would have to remove 2 influence disks using the influence action. It's up to you to determine if that is worth losing the production on the planets you are deinfluencing.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

He could explore twice more maybe and then go bankrupt, removing the influence disc from the unwanted hex.

Not freaking out. Just miscounted. I wouldn't have done the last one if I'd been keeping track properly. Oh well.

I was thinking of moving that disc to the new hex. Save a disc spot but lose the pop. But I didn't so I don't.

Frankly I think it worked out. Getting that Supernova hex will keep you in good shape as it has the best number of planets of all tier III tiles. Though for you to keep it from blowing up you really need to start researching like mad. I figure by round 4 or 5 you really need to start worring that it will blow on you. If you are willing to gamble that Tatts won't attack you then I would have used both grey hexes as material population and maybe one of the other grey planets you discoved as well. That would have put your production up to 10 or 12. Then research the orbital tech and build orbitals and increase your economy and science production that way. Or use all that materials production to build a ton of ships and swarmed all over Tatts.
Like I said before even the most bad ass ship can be taken down if confronted by enough infieror ships.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Er, what do you need to build for? I think you want to attack me, i'm not looking forward to that. Go through the wormhole and destroy the T man. Eventually you'll need to build but there are only 4 hexes left, surely you'd want to grab as many of them as you can. I want to be seen as helpful and non aggressive so you'll not come in and rape and pillage me whilst I'm doing my own thing. I could drop a dread in your homeworld but i'm not going to.
Next round will be a lot of discussion from D'rek and I. I am hoping I work something out with her but I don't know what she wants to do.
Actually I think you could go for the double ancients above Khell. That is one juicy Hex, and I've been thinking about going for it myself

Since Tapper put in his I'll put mine in as well.
Upgrade: Add Plasma cannons over an ion Cannon and add an electron computer in the blank slot on the Dreadnaught blueprint.

I'm kinda mad at Gnaw right now for stealing all the explores and whingeing about his phenomenal money situation when I'm so poor. Want to agree to be friends and you can go pillage him as much as you like? Either way, my plans right now are to beat these ancients (*fingers crossed*) and then get some explores in next round before they all disappear.

@SS
I was taking a look at your upkeep situation and currently you have 4 hexes influenced and 3 actions, you are planning on influencing Gamma Velorum but one of the actions you took was a pulsar action netting to total influence disks used this round to 7. So if you don't do another non pulsar action you would be at -7 for upkeep. Currently your money situation is 6. You sound like you will settle the grey planet with a money cube putting your income to 8.
So it looks like if you want to do another action this round it will have to be a pulsar action else you will be forced to bankrupt hexes again.

I think you have the battle with the Ancients in the bag. With your shields they have to hit with a 6 only and your cruiser gets to attack first. It will probably take quite a few rounds but anything short of a statistical fluke I just don't see you having anything to worry about.

I do hope you're joking about being mad at because you're poor. There's a saying in ancient Terran. "land poor". It means having a lot of rural property making one wealthy in terms of the theoretical value of the land at sale, but not having money to develop the property one's self nor the inclination to sell the land.

Turn 3 - MOVe the cruiser in Rigel to Lambda Fornacis (hive)
Turn 4 - MOVe the dreadnaught in Mu Herculis to Lambda Fornacis

Turn 6 - ???
I believe that the ancient Terrans would refer to your current situation as being 'gun poor'. The difference between the two is it's awfully hard to pick up one's land and use it to kill somebody for their gun. But the reverse?
Hell, you've got one money planet you haven't even bothered to populate.. And two other Advanced money planets.
I suspect that you have every intention of exploring in Round 3.
Exploring hex 107 and 102 would be my guess.
