You're far from in a losing position: good income, decent science, diplomatic agreements with both your neighbours, you're completely or mostly shielded from D'rek by the Exiles.There's an uncolonized materials tile for more materials.

Equally, your race bonus will come into its own if you go to war in the mid-to-late game as you can use the colony ships to get materials that will allow you to build better ships or to gain science to win some nice techs - heck, you can even flip 2 of them this round if you don't explore further.

In other words, doom and gloom ill becomes thee.

I have to flip two to build my dread. In fact I should put that down, I only have 6 materials, and I'm flipping two colony ships to create the dread. Good reminder Tapper. D'rek has already abused me once and when something like that happens, you revisit it night after night.

I have to agree with Tapper here. You had a great round one with your economy at 10 and improving a Dreadnaught right out of the gate. If you had better cannons you could almost take on those ancients all on your own.

Remember what I said about defense. Tats will have a highly accruate hitting Dreadnaught sitting on your homeworld's doorstep. You have enough materials to build enough starbases to take it out but improvements to that blueprint would improve your odds greatly. Gauss shield is a cheap way to lower his accuracy. You probably don't need to worry about it until round 3 but keep in mind that if you leave yourself wide open you may invite disaster.

It's one of the benefits of selecting the Eridani. We start with three tech where most start with either one or two.

I'm around enough that I don't feel the need to announce to everyone what my very next plan is. It might influence others actions to my detriment. Doubtful at this stage of the game but one can not be too careful.
