D'rek are you looking to play this again? I am in for the next game if that is okay? I'll do better!

I'd love to play again, but I don't know if I'm up for modding again without a substantial break in between!

Who Modded the last one? Maybe someone else can mod but they can ask you for advice. I am inexperienced in the modding arena otherwise I'd take up the mantel. I keep repping your posts because you are doing awesome.

Thanks!

Morgy modded the last one, hence the game never resuming after the Christmas break (Morgy is on a leave of absence from the forum). He modded it with a program called Vassal, but unfortunately Vassal only has the basic version of the game, no expansion (at least last time I looked it didn't). I'm not nearly so fancy and am just cutting out images with paint.net and moving them around in yEd. If someone else wanted to moderate in the same way I could send them all my files so they wouldn't have to re-do creating the images (which was basically a lot of taking screenshots from Vassal and asking friends with the game to scan their pieces and send them to me :p )

We didn't get any rare tech this round. The first 10 tech drawn were all regular ones, so no rare ones were drawn.

(as much as I have been desperately hoping for Conifold Field to show up for me :p )

I wanted that at the start before I knew you had to draw them. Next game, I want to be far away from you, you seem to always want what I do but get it.

CF I was seriously joansin last night wanting to fight someone (In game context only). If we don't put the hurt on a number of hexes this round I'm going to seriously combust from all the pent up aggression. I say we pick someone and go balls to the wall reduce them to rubble and ash mode. I can't upgrade a whole lot more than I have already and I have actions to burn. Should we go left, right or accross?

I'm with you Twelve. I want to lay the hurt on some mofos too.

I spent awhile looking at the map last night and unless somebody does a serious commit to take the center, they're not going to budge us....plus D'rek and IH seem happy to continue defending while whittling away at tattersail for the extra VPs here and there. Why he isn't sticking up for himself? I have no idea, but it doesn't matter.

The least lossy options to nab VPs are at the expense of our militarily weaker neighbours, probably Tats most of all, but that puts us in a race with the point leaders more or less.

Medium lossy option is going east, where we will have more ships to contend with and a harder road to the valuable sectors (like EM's homeworld).

More lossy option is to contend with IH directly to remove VPs from their systems and knocking them down as point leaders. We could hope Khell takes advantage of the distraction to perforate IH's borders as well. Those guys could easily swing into 2nd (or 1st) place by nabbing a few undefended worlds to the north.

Not sure where a back-door attack ranks on that scale. If executed this turn we could establish a solid presence in IH's back-territories and at the very least force him to shift gears from frontal GC assault to backdoor defense. I might even be able to sweep in first and clear D'rek from the sector so you can come in risk-free next turn. In fact, I like that plan a lot.

=============================

I put in no provisional move. I really want to see what folks do the first time around the board before I commit to anything. I'll likely nab some tech this round and I'll need an upgrade + a build action at some point, but I should be good for at least 2 move actions (ie 4 ships).

Yeah my first action will be to grab tech as well. Which one I don't know until it comes around to me.

I also like the wait and see option. Eveyone but D'rek will run out of actions before either you or I do this round so we can see what everyone else does so we can find the weakest link and then exploit it.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Dude, this is the very first time in the game I've been ahead of you on VPs. Let me do the heavy carrying for a change :)

This is probably a stupid move, but:

RESEARCH Artifact Key for 12 Science.

I've got two artifacts in my domains, so convert them to 10 Materials.

Trying to get more actions than me this round? There is a tech on the board I want but wasn't expecting. Not sure what to do now. It's a dead time for the game so I'm going to take my time.

Get the boys to bed then watch a movie. Maybe CF gets back to me before I go to bed. If not then I'll just make my move instead.

If I had stayed in Vega I would have won against just her orbital but more than likely she would have drew in a cruiser to destroy me. If I had attacked the ancient she would have hopped on and destroyed me first. So by pulling back I have a dread this round that is going to get SUPED up. Anti Matter Cannon, Extra computer, Fusion drive and Zero Point Source. Then I can purchase another one of those beasts and compliment it with a cruiser or a couple of starbases upgraded. I am going to attack Vega. She has 13 materials or something which means she can only purchase two cruisers so I think I can really hurt her this round.

D'rek and IH are the leaders at the moment, you are not going to want to attack IH where his Starbases are so you'll have to draw him to you if you want to lay hurt on him. Best way to do that would be to attack D'rek. She isn't strong and by doing that You may draw IH's Ire.

Maybe not commit a full battalion because you have Khell and EM to worry about.

I don't know where I stand, I am going to try and research next round and bunk up my VP's. I have never been a threat to you, Twelve showed good will early on, so I have actually been keeping D'rek busy most of the game. Sure she has owned me mostly but things will change with these cannons.
