What Abyss said. Talk about teasers! Hollywood -- get some tips!
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

I and a few others on here successfully held out on the Dresden preview chapters and spoiler information before Cold Days came out.

It was glorious and all the more delicious because everything was new.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Chances are those will be part of the synopsis, but if you want to wait for that be my guest.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Yeah, when I finally got Cold Days, I hadn't read any of it anywhere else bar the title. Reading preview chapters and spoilers reduces the hit when the Dresden crack finally arrives.

Oh, and btw I just cannot wait for this!
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

That's not possible. When you see Skin game in the store or on the web, the urge for dresdencrack will rise and you will fail.

But you have no way of knowing how much more you would have enjoyed it with the priming of having read the the preview chapters. Sure, you can skip e.g. appetizers or foreplay but are you sure your experience is richer that way?

I have the other books I've read spoiler chapters for. I read the Ghost Story first chapter and it did somewhat lower my enjoyment because it felt old to me.

Hmm some kind of crossover study design, or historical control. Not valid, since they are different books. Only thing that would do is a double-blind randomized controlled study. Bit of a problem though.

Hear Hear Amp

I had the complete opposite experience. The preview chapters HEIGHTENED my enjoyment because the anticipation element was way way up.

I had the same thing. The weeks of anticipation, (re)reading the preview chapters, the waiting, the searching for the book to get it a bit earlier etc. all heightened my enjoyment of the book. Without that I would still have enjoyed it immensely, but now I could spread that out to weeks instead of a few hours.

LOL, it's March and the preview pushing (which isn't even out yet) has begun!

Take your fix whilst you can folks... how can you possibly be disappointed?
