Rejoice friends and addicts for it is time for a small dresdencrack fix! Yes, it's that magical time of the year when Jim Butcher releases frequent preview chapters and chapter one is great.

And now commence the argument about waiting for release. Spoilers- waiting isn't worth it.

Fixed.

I see Butcher added a bit to what he did at the reading.

AND IT'S AWESOME!!!!

Just remember people, if you get hit by a falling meteor tomorrow, this could be the only part of SKIN GAME you ever get to read. Not even having that much... well... that's a rough way to go.

That first chapter that is posted is the same (maybe edited a bit) as the preview from the paperback of Cold Days that has been around for months. You could probably just read it, since even random people walking around on the sidewalk with no internet have read. Just it and not the rest, the real previews. You have the willpower for that, right? ^_^

Exactly.
And i'm sure the final version will be different, so really it's not even the actual text of the book, just a 'what might be'.

Plus if you don't want to read about that awesome thing that happens when Harry does that stuff in that place with the other things going on, you're mad cow crazy.

It's true!

Not reading it now is like cooking a delicious, juicy steak but then choosing not to eat it because you'd rather wait and reheat it for leftovers another night. We all know it's better now, why punish yourself? Same exact scenario here with Dresden.

The foul cookery of the temptation demons has bubbled to a new froth. Can I resist the steamy, savory bouillabaisse of Dresdencrack and easy availability from multiple fronts?

The answer is "Yes"! I can hold out (and sate my hunger with other books).
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

it's so sad to watch you self-flagellate like this, amphi.

Why? Why?

Look, here's one tiny line from the preview... i promise no major spoilers... one sentence... take a peek, then ask yourself if you don't want more...

Spoiler

No you don't. Not really. You're just punishing yourself for wanting to be happy. It's ok yknow. You're allowed to be happy. Jim Butcher wants you to be happy. That's why he posted the preview. Stop fighting the author's will.

Please. It's more that you readers of the first bit are like "I have just cooked this amazing delicious steak. I will now nibble at the corner, spit it out and then wait until its cold, eat the spat out bit again, then the rest of the steak."

Me? I haven't bought the steak yet. When the time comes I will pick out the juicy delicious steak, and eat the whole thing at once, AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE!!!!

Some good-natured preview teasing is my karma for having to avoid spoilers from you guys for 6 months because I will only read these when they come out in paperback in Canada. The preview chapters actually help give me a bit of Dresden-fix that I probably need in order to survive that long!

I dunno, D, the e-book being released at the same time as the HB is what, $7 more than the mmpb... that's barely $1/month to enjoy the whole thing when it streets... come to the dark side, we have cookies AND we get our dresdencrack sooner....

You could always try indulging this time and see how it goes, then re-assess for the next book.

I see it as a lovely series of appetizers, culminating in a glorious feast of dresteaky goodness.

In all fairness I don't think Butcher intends for us to read 4 chapters of his book 6 months in advance because it's a great experience.

I think he does it because he likes preorders and money.
