One thing I didn't realize before is that Amazon Music Unlimited lets you choose 1 free Audible book / month to listen to---seems to be a choice of any Audible book. And Amazon Music Unlimited gave me a multi-month free trial.

But I only found out two days ago. So I'm going to try to power through my free listen of The Devils before my monthly choice resets on January 2nd. Started my five-day Christmas fast today so hopefully it will get good enough to help distract me from the minor agony of the days to come.

Another fantastic deal up on Humble Bundle right now: epubs of 65+ books for $18 in their Fierce Women of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror bundle. Lots of great authors here.

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
―Gene Wolfe, The Citadel of the Autarch
