Not sure where else to post this....but Amazon is up to its fuckery again (no, not Bezos licking Trumps B-hole)...and they are discontinuing the ability to download your purchased ebooks onto anything BUT your kindle/app...which they claim is about piracy (it's not)...it's about keeping you in their ecosystem when all the other major eReaders (Kobo, Boox ect.) are increasingly just devices allowing you into any ecosystem (Boox is essentially an E-ink tablet at this point and you can use amazon or any other app including manga stuff) without walls...so in their effort to close you all the way in, on Feb 26th 2025 they are discontinuing the "Download and transfer VIA usb" option that's been available since the devices inception. After that you will be locked into only downloading amazon books onto your kindle and it's operating more like say Spotify than anything else...I dunno about you but I didn't sign up for a rental service.
Anyways, this is your warning to download all your stuff now onto a computer (you can then use Calibre to convert them to other formats from the amazon format, so they can be read on any device)....
And Amazon makes it so you can only do one download at a time from a dropdown menu for each book. I dunno about others, but I had something like 787 books on there...so that would have taken forever.
So here's a handy YouTube guide on how to batch download them using a small java script...this worked super well and was super easy, so I now have all my ebooks from amazon on my laptop and my USB drive and I will be switching devices at some point in the near future. Bye Amazon.

Dark Horse Comics is doing one better -- they are killing their digital service completely. With basically no warning. Including, within about a month, the inability to download comics you've purchased (I mean licensed), like permanently. If the device you have them on bricks, they're gone for good. You'll be able to read what's in your bookshelf using a browser, but even that's only until the summer. https://digital.darkhorse.com/faq/
I didn't realize Dark Horse was bought by Embracer Group a few years ago, the same vultures who've ransacked the video game industry in recent years.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
