Thanks. That does sound good and some of those characters do sound very similar to what Abercrombie would write. How is the quality (grammar errors, spelling issues, story)? I'm generally wary about self-published novels, and I do tend to judge a book by its cover when the cover looks un-appealing and cheap. If the author won't pay for a good cover, chances are the aren't going to pay for editing.

The grammar isn't perfect by no means, but for me it didn't distract too much from the story. It did make me repeat a few lines but its pretty easy to fill in where the blanks are, or where there is a slight mistake.
I've seen a few reviews where people have said it ruins the book for them when they see grammatical errors but that isn't the case for me.

I've just finished the second one and I have to say I think it's actually better than the first...

Yeah the covers are a bit cheap but they do a good job of reflecting 3 of the main characters.

i emailed the author as I had a question and he emailed me back in a few days...I really like it when author's have that kind of interaction, bit like Mark Lawrence with his Thorns books...

Some of the Best from Tor.com 2013 collection is available for free.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

I have not read it yet so I don't know how good it is. But it is .99 and has more 5 star than 1 star reviews.

Also Robin Hobbs Rain Wild chronicles are on sale for 1.99. Those I did like but maybe only because I like anything she writes.

Read The Book of Deacon by Joseph Lallo

It was free on Kindle. Some decent ideas in there, I would read the next in series, if it were also free. Did I mention it was free?

I downloaded that a while ago (but haven't read it yet). Good to hear it's not terrible.
