This book is the first in the Chathrand voyage series, which is pretty decent. I am an enormous fan of the Master Assassins series he's working on now - I think it's some of the very best writing out there right now. Chathrand came before that and is unrelated, yet still fun in the long run.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Pamela Sargent's The Shore of Women (which I quite enjoyed) is $1.99 right now (Amazon US only): https://amazon.com/dp/B00J90CEX8
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
―Gene Wolfe, The Citadel of the Autarch

Jay Kristoff's latest EMPIRE OF THE VAMPIRE is only $3 on kindle today. I liked this one, even if it made me squeamish at points.

I can save people some time and money here.

Plot: What if Harry Potter took place in a college in the States and everyone was an unlikable jerk, doing unlikable jerk shit to each other for a long time.

Nothing remotely that cool.

But not bad either. It's more Harry Potter with Millenials and a dose of retro-fantasy nostalgia. People are very divided on it, i enjoyed. At that price i would say grab and give it a chance.

....also, now i really want something to be DEADLY CLASS but with magic.
