Shinrei, what is Japanese for 'horsecock'? Whatever that is, you should name it that.

No clue...I mean, I could put the equivalent of "cock" and "horse" together, but I doubt that it is a literal translation like that.
穴馬 Ana-uma (dark horse) would be cool though.

Is there a fast Japanese way of saying 'Tiam the Conglamoration and Mother of all dragons from whom all power is derived'? Because if so, that should totally be the name of the sword.

Is naming a sword common practice in Japan or is it more of a western thing? Should a sword have a name? For what reason would a swordsman name his sword and where / for what reason would he choose that particular name?
I've never even considered giving my iaito a name before but perhaps I should jump on the bandwagon...? To be honest, unless there's a good reason for it, in keeping with Japanese tradition, I'm a little bit skeptical.

If my information is correct, yes, there is a very strong tradition of naming blades.
Samurai had a personal, semi-spiritual connection to their swords, not because they believed them magical or anything, but because they were taught that their blade is an extension of self, of their will. And ideally you wanted one good enough to never need replacing, a sword for life. It was something used in life-or-death situations, in a culture where the sword was always at their side, but armour was reserved for the battlefield or duty. In an environment like that, it is much easier to kill than to stop someone killing you.
The sword was serious business, and a huge part of their life. It was a tool, an obligation, a symbol of office, a hard-earned honour. Being a Samurai was a way of life. The name of the sword was most important to the owner, as the sword was a part of him - like when Traveller chooses to use the name Vengeance instead of Grief, the name would mean something to the owner.
Unlike Vengeance/Grief, Dragnipur or Narsil, if a sword was famous it was known for its wielder or its creator, not by its own name. So Dragnipur would be known as a Draconus blade, or as a part of Anomander's legend. Hust blades are a good Malaz example of creator renowned.
That all changes a bit depending on the period, etc. And I'm not an academic on the topic and don't live in Japan, so it can be hard to seperate myth from fact, but that's all correct to my knowledge

無限刃 "Mugenjin" is cool, but a little too dorky/presumptuous for a shinai. Literal translation is "unlimited blade". Unless you know the members of this kendo club would totally think it was super awesomezorz or whatever.
Did he say somewhere that it's a shinai? I wouldn't name a shinai, those things are expected to break. I figured it was like my old school, you use shinai/bokken for sparring, but practice forms solo with an actual metal blade, properly weighted and everything. So I thought it was the metal one he's supposed to name...
PS - As a Samurai Champloo fan, that really is an awesome name idea
Edit - An example historical sword used by one of the shogun was nicknamed Daihannya (Great Wisdom Personified)

naming your blade seems pointless to me. You wouldn't name your hand or your arm. The sword is the same way. When im fencing i don't think of my epee as an epee. It's part of me. Why give it a name?

I assumed it was a shinai as that is, of all types of sword, most commonly associated with kendo...
The love I bear thee can afford no better term than this: thou art a villain.
