Both Luke And Ahsoka mention the whole "Jedi Attachment" thing, and Grogu's part in the episode HINGES on it....take Yoda's old blade and train as a Jedi, or go with Mando and leave the Jedi order behind because that's an attachment.

In the old EU the whole attachment thing was scrapped BY LUKE in his new Jedi Order becuase of how it led to a lot of issues in the old order. Luke's Order is meant to be BETTER. One of the first things old EU Luke drops is the attachment BS.

And for Ahsoka to comment on it to Mando is super strange since Filoni made a point of showing that Ahsoka was not about the tenets of the old Order. FFS she WATCHED Anakin go bad because he had to hide his relationship with Padme.

Anyways yeah, my only real issue.

EU Luke, I got bogged down in the 2nd Heir to the Empire book and haven't gotten back to it. But I looked at the "Grogu must choose" thing as the PERFECT out that explains why Grogu isn't Luke's first student, leaving room for who we already know will be...Ben Solo. They're not going to trash or even retcon the sequel trilogy, it appears. And because we know what happens in the future, there has to be the "failure" of Luke's school that turns him into what we see in TLJ. Whether we hate it or not.

For a similar reason, I will not be surprised if we don't see Ahsoka and Luke together again, except possibly a flashback to their initial meeting, which they passed over in the ep. At some point they have to give a good reason Ahsoka is out of play for the sequel trilogy, too, don't they? I think they've given a pretty good reasoning as to why she wasn't visible in the original trilogy but now we know she's still around post RotJ. I expect the search for Ezra will be part of the reason and I expect that will be at least getting underway during the Ahsoka series. I almost hope we get introduced to Thrawn live action and then maybe the threat to his home in the Unknown Regions (?) pulls Ahsoka, Ezra and Sabine all there with him. Expand this universe with somewhere completely new, with characters we love but that need a reason to be elsewhere...

Mando, Ahsoka, Sabine, Ezra, Grogu, Fett and others are going to split off from the Skywalker saga into their own directions....and I feel like that direction will be rediscovery and tenets of The High Republic.

So the High Republic is the biggest creative endeavour Disney has made into Original SW content right?

We also know the HR times are sort of covered over by the Jedi of the Prequel era to the extent of keeping books about it in forbidden archives that are not available to any Jedi not on the council and eventually end up in the hands of Palpatine. We also know that the Prequel Jedi have either forgotten or refused to use the "force well" deep beneath the Jedi Temple that Palaptine and Dooku intentionally tap to cover up their dealings during that time an hide them from the Jedi. The High Republic Jedi USED that well.

So I feel like MAYBE the characters we know from Mando and BOBF and whatnot are headed to collide with seeking out information and history of the High Republic era Jedi and that they will build a SEPARATE order based on those tenets instead. And I think that Ahsoka will lead it as long as she lives, but that Ezra will become the defacto leader of it.

Thus Disney wil unite the most popular Skywalker era people they have that AREN't main OT characters, with their bread and butter creatives going forward with them rediscovering the High Republic Jedi.

I'm probably WAY off...but still, fun to speculate on.

I could see Sabine making Ezra a higher priority than Mandalore, based off the Rebels epilogue, which is why I include her out of the picture with Ahsoka.

So Ezra and Thrawn have essentially been in wild space for 9 years (the REBELS episode where they get shoved there with the space whales is not too long BBY)....I feel like in that time someone as clever as Thrawn would have completely realized how used he was by the Empire and the Sith. His latest book trilogy is going a long way to make him sympathetic and more about "justice", if hard to nail down...rather than the out and out villain he was in the old EU. I think that was intentional.

So I think Thrawn after they find him and Ahsoka realizes that he's not the evil person she thought he was... will become a military general on the SIDE of the heroes like Ezra and Ahsoka and Mando and them...as opposed to against them.

I only know whispers of Thrawn's origins and so am not as heavily invested in him as some likely are. Though I like his character a lot. Rebels alone showed him to be very intelligent but also ruthless to the max. He's not a cardboard cutout villain. Its really going to be 9 years Thrawn and Ezra have been gone? Is Thrawn's book story that he was exiled (or left on his own?) from his home world/area and ended up with the Empire partially because he was looking for resources he knew he'd need to bring back to help against the threat to his entire world/people? And that that threat is so huge, the Skywalker galaxy would certainly be next? That's the gist of things I've run across without looking hard for info. Could be totally off. But if that is close to it, I would be down with your theory...

That would actually be rather interesting. There would be some major tensions to work through for some characters if that actually came to be.

You say Ahsoka saw Anakin go bad 'because he had to hide his relationship with Padme.'
Anakin went bad because he formed an attachment, against the rules, that Palpatine was able to exploit - it was the attachment that was his downfall as he was easily manipulated. Ahsoka may be against the jedi order as a whole, but she knew he was breaking those rules.
Luke and Yoda in RotJ both viewed Luke rushing to save his friends as a mistake - at this point he might still feel that attachment is weakness to the Jedi ideal he aspires to.
And of course Luke has very little knowledge of the Republic Jedi, it's all still a bit of an ideal to him as he didn't see how the order brought itself down with it's own hubris.
Him starting a new school in the same likeness as the one in the past that was 'destroyed by the Empire' seems like a natural progression.

Anyone else think Boba will reunite Tatooine, kill Bane, see off the Pykes, then gift his armour to a healed Vanth because he no longer needs it? Or would that drive everyone nuts?
Mando has basically taken Bobas bounty hunter role, and this whole season seems bent on making Boba wanting to change himself. Those Tusken episodes can't have been for nothing.

For someone who has not watched all of Clone and any of Rebels/Resistance, what's the deal with Cad Bane, I'm guessing he's had to be of some significance previously in the series?

He was in quite a few episodes of Clone Wars, as either a bounty hunter or mercenary.

He was pretty badass and could hang with Jedi in a fight. There was even one episode where he broke into the Jedi temple to steal a kyber memory crystal.

He was employed by Darth Sidious, Darth Maul, the Hutts, etc.
