Alas, this is about where I'll be stuck for the rest of the game as things look. I'll be struggling anyways when Tapper takes the center :The Force:

There's no such thing as "stuck" when you have 20 materials and enough science to research just about anything. You could research wormhole generators, build two dreadnaughts and move them into his homeworld all in this round...

You received a +8 Money discovery tile and a +3 Reputation tile.

Shouldn't I get two reputation tiles? One for taking part in a battle, and another for destroying an Ancient ship?

Also, I'll take the +8 money instead of the 2VPs.

Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

EDIT: Before I do upkeep - Tapper, do you want Diplomatic Relations?

You only get 1 per battle.
You got to draw 2 reputation tiles from your battle and keep the best one. I had 2 battles, and for each battle I drew two and kept one. Etc

CF's not around, BUt I believe we were planning to build a dreadnought this round in our home system.

I'll have to get back to you on the alliance offer, IH.

13/20??? Yup, we're screwed. IH, attack him already! Put some pressure on the plants!

But then I'd get the traitor card!

Anyway I reckon I'm in a fairly good position to take the centre next turn and with CF and ST looming on my borders I don't want to get into a war I can't win to jeopardise that.

I'm going to wait on a reply from CF/ment before committing on my upkeep, though it looks like I'm going to be down to 2 hexes :The Force:

1. The Traitor card moves around.
2. Even if you're the last to have it, 2 points isn't that bad. You'll likely get a victory tile that's worth more :p
3. If you manage to take the centre (and I for one am not going to be your opponent for it, I may have the science now, but I don't have the mats) you'll be making a very nice jump in capabilities.

Aye. Or do yuo lose only the ambassador to the guy you attack, and being unable to form new ones?
Anyhow, when it comes to attacking the top player on the board, it may actually be an advantage to declare the first attack against him. You gain the card and lose the alliances, but if others follow, the card is passed on and the alliance can be re-negotiated.

Hmmm, I'm not sure either. Rules say:

Quote

Your Diplomatic relations stay in effect until the end of the game, unless you attack one of the players you have Diplomatic relations with, or they attack you. Moving your Ships to a hex where the other player has a disc or a Ship is also considered an attack. Both players then return the Ambassador Tiles and cubes to the owner. The cube goes back to a Population Track, chosen freely by the owner.

Whenever you attack a player and thus break the Diplomatic relations, you receive the Traitor Card from its previous holder. The player holding the Traitor Card may not form new Diplomatic relations as long as he has the card. Whoever holds the Traitor Card at the end of the game receives a –2 VP penalty.

So I guess it's just the one relation that breaks?

Ok upkeep since we're still waiting on a yay or ney on an alliance:

Upkeep: -13
Income: 6
Bank: 1

Cannot afford, so remove influence tokens on 1B and 3D, to give upkeep cost of -7, put the cube from the grey planet back down on research

Which leaves my bank at:
Money: 0/+6
Research: 3/+2
Production: 10/+6

If I get a yes on an alliance, put the cube towards money, sell 2 production to get 10 money and keep 3D. Balance should be the same.

Edit: Actually, just increase money by 2, do everything else the same

Hi guys,

Sorry I have been out of touch, mind was on other things.

Mme CF had the baby unexpectedly 3 weeks early and I'm just now finding time for a forum post when I'm actually awake enough to type.

So Ment, don't worry about conferring with me about anything in the game, I hereby bow out due to the hectic schedule the baby will generate over the coming months. I would very much like to be included in the next game whenever this one is finished.

I'll definitely be following to see how it turns out.

I don't think we need to wait for Ment to move on, do we? Ment/CF didn't go over-budget so there's no choices to be made in resolving their upkeep, anyways.

I say bring on round 3!

(Ment/CF's new bank amounts would be 3 money / 6 science / 9 materials )

Alright. The alliance has not been accepted and I'll process and start day 3 when I get back from work.

I think maybe that a 24 hour rule should include an automatic pass if broken, and in case of upkeeps perhaps we should include some sort of monetary punishment?

Incidentally, I got a game of 5 player Eclipse going yesterday. I got to play the Mecanema for the first time and that was a lot of fun. Upgrading everything to absurd proportions is pretty cool. And buying cheaper makes things pretty neat too.

Eclipse is quickly growing to become my favourite war game (though not entirely a war game :The Force:).. I'm looking forwards to the expansion and what the new races will bring.
