Since I brought up how it happens that Syntara has no place in the liossan mythology, whether through willful suppression of facts or her imminent death, I'm now wondering how the many, many characters that don't make it to tMBotF meet their fate. Grizzin Farl is the most obvious question. Did he finally show up on time for a battle? Did he try to protect something that was to big for his arms to hug? How'd he bite it? Did he at all?

Likewise, the Hust family. i don't think i hear a single 'hust' throughout MBotF unless it's referring to a sword. where did the family go? mayhap they marched down the maw of the vitr with their legion when it set out to end the plague of dragons. it's likely that we're going to find out how they do go by the third book, so let's hear some speculation!

One side crimson with blood, Anomander Rake straightening to face the Hust Legion. “The invasion has just begun,” he told the waiting warriors. “We risk being overwhelmed.” He drew a slow, deep breath, jaws briefly clenching in pain. “I shall wait for them beyond the Rent, to deny them the Throne of Shadow. This leaves the Gate itself. Hust Legion! You shall march to the Gate. You shall march through it. You shall take the battle to them, and hold them there. And,” he scanned the rows of helmed faces, “when the last five of you remain, you must give your lives to sealing that wound. You shall, Hust-armed and Hust-armoured, forever close Starvald Demelain.”

Wailing shrieks from blades and scaled breast-plates, from helms, from greaves and gauntlets, a deafening chorus that shattered into wild laughter. But within that insane glee, the faces of the Andiian warriors were expressionless. And with solemn salutes they acknowledged their Lord’s command.

Hust Legion, we never saw you again.

But the Eleint stopped coming. -(TCG)

ok, but that doesn't mention any of the characters from FoD. what happens to calat hustain? i can see him being part of a group that encounters or perhaps is attacked by an eleint. bit of an aside here, but i wonder how the dragon-killing properties of hust swords are discovered...

THEY ALL DIED OF NATURAL CAUSES IN THEIR SLEEP
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I think it makes it pretty clear that they all died.

wow, you guys are no fun. of course they died. that's a given in the title of the thread already. HOW, people. how did they die? Legyl Behust is going to be growing up with Orfantal in the Citadel. Orfantal became soletaken, maybe he did it to try and be the hero for her like one in his imagination. in the clusterfuck of betrayals that's gonna end up splitting the tiste into three peoples, does legyl even end up in the hust legion? I think it's more likely that her and orfantal clash with each other over the blood of the eleint, and maybe he even kills her.

see? this is how you speculate!

The Hust Legion went out to fight dragons, right?

I'm guessing they got killed by dragons.

Well that's not very specific. Dragon tooth? Dragon claws? Dragon tail?

Dragon Balls. They tea bag the Hust to death.
Theorizing that one could poop within his own lifetime, Doctor Poopet led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM POOP. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Poopet, prematurely stepped into the Poop Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

That's likely not legal in the Malazan world (I've no idea however whether it can kill you).
