I want to hold off on reading the prelude and chapter 1 until I have the book in hand... but I know I won't be able to.

Also, the timeline is not important. It's a mantra by now, isn't it?

I read Chapter One and I'm so glad I did! It just confirms for me this book will be as wonderful as I expected and will have those teases and clues we all love to catch, that will make it a rich reading experience for those who have finished the series including all ICE's books. I have already found several items that to me, directly relate back to mysteries in the previous novels and character identity. I won't go into details so as not to spoil anything for those who want to wait. The waiting for this novel is much harder now!

The timeline is suuuuper important!

But so far, by advance-reader accounts, nothing impossible has happened, just eyebrow-raising stuff. Still 2 more books to follow, so I hold trust in SE.

Also, Pat has mislead me before with his hints about timeline, gender and character name incosistancies, so I'll wait until I've got it myself before making any concrete opinions

Just got mine from Tor as well .. ha, didn't even know these were coming. Been out of the loop for a spell, I guess, campaigning through RotCG still. The Malazan-verse live on!
