In addition to what Obdi said, remember, it's a kicker's season, can't have enough of them
All kidding aside: now we wait until the NFL proper starts (4th of september iirc). We then play 14 weeks of head-to-head games (bit like the fantasy EPL cup-season): the goal is not as many points as you can, but as many wins as you can. After that, head-to-head play-offs. In the meantime, it's good to google your guys, see if they're fit and on form, what their predictions are, how their match-ups are analyzed by 'experts' so you know which out of your RB/WRs to put into the team as RB/WR/Flex per week (not that different from scouting match-ups for your lower-end table defenders in fantasy EPL), then just before the season starts, set your line-up for your very first match.
Also, never display public ignorance
if you can't find something on the Yahoo! Fantasy football page (their help section is pretty good, only they don't advise on strategies), ask the commissioner (Slow Ben), preferably by PM. He's the only one who is more or less obliged to give mostly impartial advice when it comes to game rules
