Interesting. Barghy wants a reveal and gets one just not as he hoped.

Good morning people!

So we thinking there is going to be an independent role or two in there? D'rek had said that he expects the game to last 2-3 weeks. The Batman game barely lasted a week and a half, and there were much more players there, so there's gotta be some interesting mechanics that no one knows about that will allow town to survive a bit longer?

I highly doubt it. I think D'rek's just playing around with a lot of variations of standard roles and crazy stuff, and the espers are probably going to be brilliant and ridiculously complex in nature, but I don't think that we're going to see independent factions in a game so close to mini-size. besides, she experienced the reception of Twilight's hidden extra roles first hand... which wasn't an extended ovation, really.

As for the pace of the game and the comparison of Espers versus the much higher number of people in Batman:

Ment handed out vigs, gave roles killing abilities, et cetera. Who says D'rek does the same?

High tmdi =/= deadly: complexity can be found in a great many other ways. In fact, an overkill of kill isn't making a game more complex. It just makes it more random as there's a much higher luck factor involved.

Since this is a malazan game loosely connected to the K&B novels, I'd say The Indifferent God.

Damn, you had to remind me of the Twilight game.... It was one big long WTF for me that game.

Again - why speculate day 1 about deadly or not deadly? We'll find out.

Besides, sometimes things don't go as planned - I designed a game once that I thought was going to be super bloody, and it ended up dragging out because of how things were balanced and what players chose to do. So... Day 1 high TMDI speculation is a lot of pissing in the wind IMO.

So how would you piss then? What would you like to discuss?

I'm interested in seeing how people interact and what they choose to talk about. (and whom)

Just because I think it's pissing in the wind, doesn't mean that others shouldn't speak their mind. Go for it. I give you permission.
Keep in mind though, that Day 1 speculation is a great way to obfuscate for people who start off with information. I don't get that impression from Eloth necessarily, but it's certainly possible.

One thing that bothers me, is the one vote thing. Does it help us against the cult, or not? I'm going to be an optimist and say that it will help us. They can't signal with voting very easily, and when it comes to distancing and committing to a lynch, vote records will potentially yield stronger information than our standard games.

You're such a conservative... what happened to mad wild sex against the wafer thin wall of a toilet cubicle?

They invented a little hole for that.

Well, yes, but I always imagine Ron Jeremy's on the other side in all his hairiness, which kind of deflates the mood of the moment.

Good morning everyone!

re one vote: you can place and remove votes as much as you want each day, like any normal mafia game

also, good catch on the "8 votes to go to night" - I'll be removing that from future vote counts as it is not applicable.

Only someone with this much power could make this many frittatas without breaking any eggs.

I see many joke votes in the near future. Or, at least, pressuring votes (which are better)
