.....and fill in your own words. Quick Ben has been amazing throughout the series. But I'm about half way through The Crippled God, and I just came to the part where Quick Ben is picking up Kalam from the Deadhouse.
And I just felt the overwhelming need to share how BADASS it is to have Quick Ben and Kalam together again. Now I haven't read further, so I might be jumping the gun, but this was a kick ass part of Tue book. I almost cheered when I realized it was Kalam that they were talking to.
And then you hAve Quick Ben just being a smug SOB to Kalam when Kalam says something about horses needing to be able to walk on water, and QB replies, "mine can."
I love it.

'Well,' said Quick Ben, 'mine can.'

'Smug as ever, I see.'

'In any case, warrens are my business-'

'And how's business?' Kalam asked.

'Awful. But that's all about to change.'

'Really? How?'

'Gods below, Kalam. Because I'm back, that's why. Now stop talking and leave me to it, will you?'

Quick is a BADASS. I love it. I'm starting to debate if its now Ben or Karsa who is now my favorite.

Indeed, your poll options are decidedly lacking but, over all, this thread has my approval.

I'm totally in the same boat as you when it comes to QB or Karsa. Both super-billy-badasses but in different ways.

Yeah, sorry for the lack of choices for the poll.
I really wasn't even making a poll when I made the thread.
It was just a quick afterthought.
It was more of my inner nerd screaming out at QBs badassery, than any attempt at a poll.

But true about 'all of the above'

I'm not sure, really. But I haven't read much further, yet.
But this is the first time he appears in the 'real world' after the scene where he supposedly dies in the battle with the Nathruk Kchain CheMaille.(I know I butchered that spelling, Sry)
Maybe that's what he means. Maybe he had lost his fighting spirit for awhile and rebound a reason.

QB's friends smacking him in the face our over the back of the head is one of the greatest running gags in the series. never knocks any humility into the bastard though :headbang:

First read of The Crippled God. About 3/4s through, maybe.
Wow.
I have to admit, I was somewhat mad at the first half of the book. It seemed to go slow. But sinse then, its been pretty fn awesome.
And sinse I already created a QB is god thread, I wanted to add another part I really loved.
I just read the part where Quick tricks the Pure Blood Assail into coming after him. Then says, "got you." And Kalams bad ass comes out of the shadows and impaled the son of a bitch on his two blades, then hurls its broken ass across the field.
Such badassery. I have so missed Quick and Kalam.
And you gotta love Quick when he tells Kalam "That Pure almost killed me!" But Kalam knows the smug asshole is lying and says yeah right you smug asshole. (I summarized).
So Quick says," well ok but it did hurt"
I love it!

Since. SINCE.

Sorry mom. Sorry dad.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Heh. I already do that.
It is a sad feeling, though.
Man, that was a good series. DAMN good.
I only first heard of these books within the last maybe year to year and a half.
Wish I had found them sooner.
Guess its on to Black Company. Next on my list.

Good plan! From the way they read I can't believe the first books were written almost 30 years ago!
