Hey now, everyone is allowed an entrance.

sure, but why have you left your vote on Korvalain?

You know, originally it was because that was the order of the vote count in PS's most recent post. Actually, now I think I'm leaving it there. I was glancing over Korv's stuff and he's playing agreeable, light and fluffy. I'm trying to get in the scummy mindset to think how one would play on day 1. Best bet is to play it cool, not stand out. As I believe ansible has said (hopefully not crediting the wrong person), scum almost always play as middle posters if one leafs back through the previous games. Very cool observation.

So with Korv, he votes for Meanas, and then retracts and moves to Amp as a low poster. He teases Liz, points out D'riss' absence, and most recently agrees with the Big Tent following. All together, this is a pretty benign, even seemingly helpful (not really that helpful though) playstyle. I think we may have our first of the pair.

Because responses are expected, let's break it down:

Watch out kids I'm going to make a list!!!

1) "he votes for Meanas, and then retracts" - This is what we call the 'gag' vote. Meanas says that I don't exist, and I come back with a quote from Descartes as to why I must exist, and make a counteraccusation based on that argument. IT'S ALL RIGHT THOUGH. I wasn't REALLY going to vote Meanas based on a philosophical argument. I REMOVED THE VOTE. Particularly when I saw other people voting on him for no other reason than he already had a few.

2) "moves to Amp as a low poster" - This is a textbook response to someone posting.... WAIT FOR IT... 3 WORDS. Amp came back on to play, and the vote was removed.

3) "He teases Liz" - Guilty as charged! Hi Lizzy!

4) "agrees with the Big Tent following" - Wow, I agreed with the part in Big Tent about how people that agree with or defend OTHER PLAYERS should not be considered guilty, and I'm automatically guilty. Priceless.

Soooo in summary I think I'm guilty of teasing Liz and being a list maker. As far as crappy day one cases go, I guess you could go ahead and lynch me. I'm even getting ready to go to bed soon, so you have the perfect opportunity.

What I've been doing though is watching the interactions and making my opinions, so far (oh yeah baby another list! I'm playing with fire!!!):

1) Fener changes his vote whenever the winds change to follow someone (anyone) else.

2) Korbas is just happy to throw his vote down on anyone with a majority.

3) Karosis will continue arguing, even though he said he isn't going to, because he wants to prove something to us.

Anyway, I'm going to bed. I'll vote when I wake up tomorrow. Right now I'm leaning towards Korbas and Fener.

Yeah basically, on day 1 with no information about anyone. The scars of past no-lynch day 1's are fresh, and I want a lynch in order to glean some information from it. In the next days I will not just throw a vote all willy-nilly since there will be information on which to ponder.

2.3 - Bold Restrictions
The use of bold should be limited to voting. If you want to emphasize a players name or another word, you can underline the word or post using a different color

Read the rules, kids.

Very interesting reaction Korv. You should know how day 1 goes down. You put pressure, watch them sweat, and then glean info. Furthermore, you entirely missed the point of my observation: middle poster, generally agreeable, seems helpful. Scum isn't going out and say here I am. They're going to look for a niche to keep themselves alive. I very much doubt scum would play like Khells does when he's on a wild streak. Too much attention. But you, being amusing and cute, seem to be blending. Not to me.

As to Korbas' reply to your explosion Korv, lynching to get info is a time honored tradition, but you don't get info when no one gets to talk before the speed lynch mows down a suspect. That was why, Korb, you were getting so much flak. Suck it up.

Edit: do --> don't

If I'm reading it right, Amp has two votes, Meanas has three, and Omtose, Korvalain and Ano have one each.

Sure Korbas, do what you like, but don't expect to not get called on it when it looks dodgy. I personally would have preferred a bit more discussion before putting someone halfway to a lynch, especially with 20 hours of day to go.

If wanting to obtain some information with a day one lynch looks dodgy, then sue me for dodginess. Putting someone halfway to a lynch isn't like I'm dropping the hammer or anything. I have a busy night tonight and possibly day tomorrow. I wanted to lay down a vote in case I didn't get a chance to come back, which obviously wasnt the case thus far. I dont expect not to get called out on it, but if I do then I'll give the same reasoning for this vote each time. We needz some infoz.

My point was that when a player is well on the way to being lynched, the focus then tends to turn to that player as everyone sees it as inevitable, and don't want to divert the lynch by providing other options. Lynching is not the only way of getting useful inf, and while I agree that it is always better to lynch than not, I also think it is usually worth letting most of the day go by, because that way we have more info out on thread at the end of the day.

It's a balancing act. If we wait too long, it becomes a speed lynch of someone (often for little reason).

I'm tempted to vote for someone who hasn't laid a vote down (waiting to see which way the wind blows first), but for now I'm going to leave my vote on Korvalistmaker.

You're right about the speed lynching, and it seems like more often recently we are missing out on lynches, which just sends us around the same tracks of thought we had the day before.

That was a much more serious day 1 than when i left. Not entirely surprised meanas got in a pissing match, four votes of seven just cause their absent is usually enough to swing a lynch on day 1 when the clock gets low. Gonna get a few posts together and then vote, cause unlike most day 1's there was a bucket load of stuff in that last page worth voting for. give me a few.

First off is fener, who on my first read through seemed like he had voted lots, but really has outside the initial joke votes and the second one was deserved after the skullit picture! Even still some suspicious behaviour to keep an eye on, not sure if i would say its a day one vote though.

Absolutely. Or maybe not. Don't ya' know? Non-existence is the best way to play!

Giving away his strategy early on, clearly planning to low-post his way to victory. Or her way. Whatever. Makes him/her look like a criminal, t'me!

I feel this is a very well thought out argument, and can't see any reason why anyone should want to vote differently.

Supporting Meanas's non-existent case, smilies notwithstanding. Before accusations of symping get thrown around, so slightly less open to having it be focused on

Eloth said:

SYMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

first symp accusation -- getting in early so people forget? Throwing off the scent by appearing incompetent?

Anthras said:

ٌWhat i see here is obviously some people symping and some people getting symped. So i say vote the symps to see if they are symps for the symps.

Weird symbol at the start of his post. Clearly attempting to communicate with his partner in murder! DUN!

Anomandaris said:

Meanas started all this fun and then disappeared eeenteresting

What's interesting is that this is the first attempt at a Colombian accent, trying to blend in?

Dont know if this was a serious attempt at play, but it looks like a joke. Selecting at random though players on day 1 could easily be a symp signalling. his first comment about meanas could be pointing out possible strategys or acknowledging someones allegiance. his comment to anthras about a killer partner equally the same. While his comment to ano could be seen as a reference to the cartel, though we are all columbian so its not as obvious. The other two he calls symps though so not likely they would be his masters, but out of five 'random' quotes he manages to point out two as criminals and a third gets a comment about accent. Not a big clue, but if one of these three come back killer and good place to look later on.

While low-posting is not necessarily scummy, it's also not good town play. But pressures of RL do intrude, so are we not going to cut people any slack?
No? OK then.

Then finally what looks like a proper vote, though it does come after some discussion about early killer play i think (need to check the thread again for that).

Did i miss part of the vote count or one in between when atrahal posted and path shapers? cause korvalain isnt in the vote count that pathshaper posted so not sure if this is just a mistake, or someone trying to cover themselves and forgetting something that happened. Anytime you see a large number of people referenced at once it sticks out, though the reasoning for a korv vote after the fact would look better had the vote followed it. It reads like someone looking for a reason to justify their earlier vote.

actually human error explains a lot, cause looking at it now, it makes no sense, my mind played tricks on me as it goes a little right and a little down so at a glance it looks fine up until the korv vote at the end but if you go through them they dont actually appear in that order in anyway. Did pathshaper change this after the fact or something?

I'd say Atrahal is using this vote count, which was posted around three hours before the most recent count. Why exactly he is using this and not the most recent is a whole other question. Good spotting though.

Scummiest player i've found so far today is Korbas.

No response yet from Meanas to Karo's vote. Let's put a bit O' the ole pressure on him, lads!

So this vote is just to apply pressure on Meanas which is understandable. I agree with applying pressure but when that person comes on and actually gives content then you look at other options unless you still think that player scummy and provide a reason for that.

Edit:Grammar

There's no good reason as far as you know that you shouldn't vote me. Im T-totally town though, its the truth.

This. Why state the need to tell everyone your town? Who are you trying to convince and why? I think Korbas is scum trying to fit in or convince himself he is town.

We have hours and hours of time to play and yet you "hop" onto the player with the most votes, who you just so happened to apply pressure to earlier on. Any town lynch will do will it as long as you stay alive another day? So scummy!!!

I agree we need to lynch and although it is day one you lynch who you find to be the most scummiest. I think that is you. You have a flippant attitude towards lynches, and that anybody but me will do attitude is what I find scummy.

Next: Y'know, I find this from Ampelas slightly weird. Why? Because we are told in the OP that there are paired killers and a symp, and specifically that PS was killed by two men. Yet Ampelas claims he's voted Anomandaris "Because he's the killer". Singular. Why would he refer to a singular killer and not (as I would find more natural) one of a pair. Unless he's the other killer!

I knonw it's tentative, but I've just woken up, and it seems to me that this is the kind of minor slip most likely to occur on Day 1. Thus:

I think this is probably a townie who hasn't been reading properly. Surely scum would be more likely to remember that there are two killers? It's something to keep in mind, but I don't think it is worth voting someone over.

Scum or lazy townie, you've got to do better than that. ^^

vote Ampelas

Point me towards your contribution if you may be so kind. I keep looking, but I can't seem to find it.

Right, I've just realised I'm not going to be around at all for the next 22 hours or so, so I'm placing my vote now.

Vote Anomandaris

Because he's the killer. Duh.

Looks like he just votes to make some semblance of a contribution, but the wording is odd.

IT SPEAKS MORE THAN 3 WORDS! I'm satisfied, now we're tied.

I agree Fener is a bit overzealous in his following.

You voted for amp for low posting, but he responds by basically saying you are coasting and your satisfied? That seems kinda odd too.

First,

Next: Y'know, I find this from Ampelas slightly weird. Why? Because we are told in the OP that there are paired killers and a symp, and specifically that PS was killed by two men. Yet Ampelas claims he's voted Anomandaris "Because he's the killer". Singular. Why would he refer to a singular killer and not (as I would find more natural) one of a pair. Unless he's the other killer!

I knonw it's tentative, but I've just woken up, and it seems to me that this is the kind of minor slip most likely to occur on Day 1. Thus:

Vote Ampelas

Wait, did Fener just remove his vote on Ampelas and vote Ampelas?

That's...odd.
