Not a FPS as in a shooter. It's like fallout 4 or Deus Ex. It's an rpg first, combat second.

Ah okay. I'm not much of a fan of the more recent Fallout games. I have confidence in CDPR, though. I got the last Deus Ex game for free with PS+ so I must give it a go at some point (after Dishonored).

Internet is having a predictable meltdown over the fact that it's in first-person.

Honestly, though, these aren't the rolling hills and cobblestone street cities of the Witcher. This is cyberpunk-a world of vertical, clastrophobia-inducing cities, with narrow alleyways and all kinds of traversal systems- I'd imagine creating a reliable 3rd person camera without sacrificing the purity of the oppressive and overwhelming city design would be hellishly difficult. There's a reason most 3rd person shooter RPGs follow the "narrow scripted corridors interspersed with arenas filled with chest-high walls" school of design.

Yeah, I was thinking similar after posting earlier on and now I can't imagine it with Uncharted-style gunplay. I wish they'd just show footage of the demo they've been showing off Posted Image

It was one of the free monthly games with PS+ membership a couple of months ago.

Watching some of the impression videos from the demo, this game sounds basically like a current gen, old-school Deus Ex (the original), but with infinite money thrown at it.

Obviously, we're talking about a vertical slice, pre-scripted demo, so no one can take for granted that the whole game will be like this (remember: #neverpreorder ).

That being said, it's a good thing to have to look forward to.

I like the idea of street cred, and the verticality of Night City. Right now I need to hear something negative about the game, because all the hype is doing my head in, especially when it probably won't be out until 2020 :)

The negative is that as cool as it is going to be, at the end of the day, it will likely still just be another first person rpg with shooting and conversation choices. It will look great, play great and push the genre, but really just be another video game and not the second coming of vidya Christ.

It might actually come out before Half-Life 3.

The Youtube videos I've watched of those who were invited to experience the 50 min. demo has got me excited for this game. Their description of the density of a vertical navigable city makes it sound like a Blade Runner simulator. The demo was said to have been running on some powerful hardware, so this sounds like a next console cycle title for sure.

One aspect I haven't heard about vut am curious to see is the cyber aspect of the fiction. Is there proper hacking? Is there cyberspace? Considering how futuristic the game looks it seems less cyberpunk and more digital genetics.

One of the 3 "classes" is "netrunner". In the demo, V supposedly did some " hacking".

I'm not too familiar with the source RPG, but I'm sure there'll be some hacking aspect to the game.

In the videos I watched the topic of using hacking techniques was briefly mentioned, while the augmentations you can have done to your physical body to give you extra capabilities was talked about in such a way that it sounds like major aspect of the game. Mentioned were augmentations that can be acquired either from a proper (legal?) source or the black market. And how you can use them to support what style you choose to play the game (stealth for example). Also, to draw a comparison to The Witcher III, there are "inhalers" with different narcotics with various effects that you can use to boost your abilities prior to entering combat (or for some other reason), similar to the Witcher's concoctions.

From what I've read and heard, it doesn't sound like there's 'proper hacking' (like a hacking game), and it's more, gain an ability, then press X to hack kind of thing.

That sounds great though. There never was a hacking mini game that didn't get tedious way way too fast.
