Alright,
To be perfectly honest, the illustrations for the Subterranean Press edition of Deadhouse Gates were weak, to be kind. Apparently, it was impossible to get Komarck, who did a FUCKING BRILLIANT JOB with Gardens of the Moon. So, as discussed both here and in person with Steven Erikson himself, we need a movement, a show of intent and purpose, from the fandom to get a different artist to illustrate each book in the Subterranean Press series -this is the only way it will work now- Komarck could have done the whole thing but that's not an option now. The only way we can make sense of this IMHO, is if each book has a different artist. You fuckers better not let me down now. So choose.

Definately going with option one: different artist for each book. Even though I don't buy the Sub Press editions what I've seen of the illustrations for DG was.. rather meh, especially the cover. A new artist each book would at least offer a hope for better artwork.

Raymond Swanland's work for WoT was impressive.

Are we just supposed to pick dream artists and hope they want to do some freelance work?

I demand Rob Liefeld be brought in to do the rest.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Definitely different artists for each book. These are a few that I think would do an awesome job.

Marc Simonetti - He's done French versions for GRRM, Pat Rothfuss, Terry Pratchett
pervandr art- art

Pervandr and Obo fit best IMHO.

I really think different takes on the open ended nature of the books makes the most sense. The more varied incarnations of an FA we get the better!

Given the roaming nature of the storyline from book to book different artists id fine and can easily be justified as the action hops from continent and culture to continent and culture.
That being said, kormacks were fuckig ace.

Justin Sweet is one of my favorites.

As is Gregory Manchess.

Both are very, very well known for working in sync with the source material and authorial vision. Sweet just finished working a bunch on The Avengers and Manchess has been working with National Geographic, Gene Wolfe and more for quite a while.

OH GOD not Manchess please
You have a problem with Manchess? I think he'd do a terrific job with the Imass, Edur, Eres'al, Ruin and all the others introduced in Midnight Tides. His Karsa would be a thing to behold.
Going through Magic: The Gathering card art might be the best way to pick popular, yet relatively cheap artists.
Jason Chan is a particular favorite of mine and recently did The Prince of Thorns cover and The Throne of the Crescent Moon cover: http://gatherer.wiza...dvanced&artist=[%22Jason%20Chan%22]
I like his Dragonrider and Jace work.

Steve Argyle is also pretty good.

I love Sweet's style as well, even tried to contact him directly through his website when I still had hopes of doing the deck of dragons - sadly, no reply.

I'd rather have enemies than acquaintances that I'm not sure about. I'd rather take you as an enemy, defeat your arguments and make you a friend that way. Fuck compromise.

I'm fine with either option as long as the art is of high quality. The DG art wasn't up to par with the one in GOTM.
