I have a slightly crazy idea floating around in the back of my mind. Ano has been the epitome of helpful townie the whole game. The way he has doggedly chased after scum, pleaded with town to change it's ways, and put forward long essays on the nature of scum plays screams 'helpful townie'. His ideas on the way scum plays can be easily related back to him, but the fact that he acknowledges and AGREES with this has made me, and probably others, label him as innocent.
But what if this was simply extremely clever play by an extremely clever scum?
Everything Ano has done over the past few days has been acknowledging that he may get lynched for his actions. His determination to get Korbas lynched. His opposition to the Telas lynch. His argument with D'riss. Above all, his assertion that the scum players are those who act most town-like. He keeps acknowledging that his actions could get him lynched, and yet nothing happens, because we agree that he is putting himself out there and that isn't something that scum do. Time and again he has failed to garner more than a few cursory votes, while we allow him to direct the thread and lead the voting. <- I wish people would let me do this. Somehow the more I say, the less I'm heard.
Now, he has suggested that scum players will be floating around waiting to hammer as soon as a player gets two votes on him. This subtly distances himself from 'scummy ideas', because he has already put a vote down. As I said, I'm sticking to my guns, till the bitter end unless Korbas comes back and proves me wrong or someone else does. I'm not switching votes unless somebody finds the second scum or has a compelling argument that I don't have the first scum.
He has also now expressed disbelief at every single night kill. Can you clarify here? I don't think I expressed disbelief at the Karosis kill. More confusion. Disbelief was reserved for Shelly and now D'riss. It is this that initially caught my eye. It is another method of distancing, to question why scum have picked who they did. Looking back at the night kills; first was Shelly. Ano suggests looking at the people who advocated ignoring Shelly on day one, reasoning that they were trying to distance themselves from the night kill, without acknowledging that he, himself, also advocated ignoring Shelly as simply role-playing. Night two was Karosis, who, it was suggested, was looking suspiciously at Ano. I think I said that kill made sense, or didn't say anything expressing surprise. Third was D'riss, who was having a rather large dust up with Ano before the day ended, and asking some particularly pointed questions, particularly why Ano was so worried about being lynched. And yet we have Ano running around, stating that scum don't want to be associated with their kill targets. Three night kills associated with Ano is starting to look like more than coincidence.
And your argument breaks down a bit with these last two lines. I wasn't associated with the Shelly NK, as you just said. I was briefly linked to Karosis, but not because I showed any interest in him as a suspect. And yet with the third, D'riss, I got into it very heatedly and even was starting to consider him as scum. Not a very good pattern, not altogether that convincing. And remember, there are two scum, not one. Why would two people agree to draw attention to me, esp if one of those people were me. If I am the amazingly smart scum you portray, then don't you think I would have anticipated this kind of NKs connection with me? In that regard I am insulted. I spend the whole game matching what I say, as you point out, yet I don't match what I say with the NK's. Seems incongruent. Seems like a hiccup. I dunno, you tell me.
