Ha ha ha you are funny

(see use of sarcastic italics)

I'm having a bit of information overload. My head is spinning from all the different paths that everyone has taken yesterday. I'm going to go back and look at the more middle of the road posters. Try a more select approach instead of trying to take everything in all at once.

I'm not feeling D'riss case against atrahal. Also, not seeing the Rashan hate. My personal feeling is that a recruiter or 2 is laying in the weeds, posting but not making waves. Mockra, Olar, Okaros, Sorrit come to mind. Mind you, I have no evidence other than posting style, but thats what gut says. Mockra probably pings my radar the most, but for the moment I am still ok with my vote on Lio as he has shown an unwillingness to contribute in a coherent manner. ( cue Lio stopping the RP and ranting about how nobody likes to have fun anymore)

EDIT: Changed "spam" to "RP"

Barghast is giving me a bit of a bad gut vibe right now. On my phone so can't post much right now. Also, I know you responded to D'riss's case, Atrahal, but didn't respond to me, which makes it seem like you can't respond to questioning/cases without accusing the accuser of being scum or cult.

Um... I don't recall seeing atrahal accuse d'riss of being scum/cult. Where did you see that?

Not D'riss, but what I meant is the agressiveness and accusations that were thrown around at people who had made cases about him. Yeah I didn't really think that post out much on the Atrahal point. Whoops. More of a gut thing there too that I tried to explain rationally...

It sucks that we were wrong about Karosis, but reasoningindicates he would have been an obstacle today as a “what if”, and source ofpotential WIFOM as some have said. It’salways a pain from both sides of a near lynch, as the lynchee is compromised andin the back of everyone’s mind and town usually just goes ahead and lynches thenext day if nothing better is available. I agree that he went out well. As a general out-of-character question, is there another reason (beyond timefactors) that players who are near lynches and suddenly become thought of astown by several people still get lynched in the end?

Lack of a night kill: If there are multiple recruiters at work, then I think town would be thekilling force. Some have mentioned culthunters, maybe vigs (actually held that Day 1 attack for once maybe). With a high TDMI game, we can assume any& all roles might be represented. BP, guards, heals, etc. Perhapsthose with these abilities are at work, no way to know. I will be looking for patterns to help mefigure this out. Does anyone think itlikely that cultists would have protective roles from past experience?

After several people said that they where suspicous of Barghast and since I felt the same I looked through his post.

He starts with a lot of spam and then points out more and more usefull things and gives more and more serious comments. Just seems like normal day 1 of an outspoken player.
The only post that really stood out for me was this one:

I have returned. I see that there are quite a few votes being flung around, with a number of likely suspects. I shan't list them, but suffice it to say, I am yet to see a case that would truly compel me.

as such, for now, I shall honour the venerable traditions of the Court and

vote Fener
Unless I should see some other example of seditious bahaviour, my vote shall remain here.

So because you see no case you like to vote on and you can't come up with any one, you vote for a player that hasn't even posted at that point. Making that player the largest train with three votes.
How is that more sensible than not voting for a flimsy case or not at all?

not sensible. it was first vote on Day 1.
it was also a joke vote, since it used to be a traditon that "Fener is always scum"

When we got to baout 10 hours left, I removed said vote and voted for a person whom I already mentioned my suspicion of.

So our Emperor out together a few posts of mine and added his own one-liners suggesting that those posts looked scummy. As all I can say in response to that is essentially, "No, that's not what it is", I thought I would try to respond in a somewhat different way. Bear with me - here is my analysis of some of Silanah's posts:

Oh, HI D'rek!
I am always watching all of you

Engaging in talk on calligraphy - signalling perhaps???

Funny Karosis is Funny.

Again, could be signalling to Karosis specifically, seems too friendly for no real reason.

Your calligraphy is quite unique Barghast. I enjoy it.

Again with the calligraphy - getting pretty suspicious this constant repetition!?!?

View PostSilanah, on 13 March 2012 - 05:52 PM, said:

Rashan seems to be the only case with any merit. I believe I will have to
Vote Rashan.
I know this is early, but we need to make something happen. Also, I dont think behove is a word

Pushing very early, and jumping on another's case with no real reason - definitely something's off here.

View PostSilanah, on 13 March 2012 - 09:14 PM, said:

The only thing that stands out about Barghast right now is him saying to refrain from hasty actions. This to me seems like scum trying to seem super town because its day one and day one cases are shitty at best, downright random at worst

Voting Rashan but then pointing fingers at another one. Seems to be a bit all over the place - feels like he just wants to get someone, anyone, lynched.

View PostSilanah, on 14 March 2012 - 01:30 AM, said:

Your emperor has returned and is struck with dismay at the mess you have gotten into. I stand by my Rashan vote right now, but could be persuaded to vote Okaros or Karosis, if necessary or if the case can be elaborated on further.

Again, could vote for anyone seemingly, but also isn't bothering to make his own case, just wants to jump on others'

View PostSilanah, on 14 March 2012 - 02:57 PM, said:

Day one gut:
Laying low, acting confused to fit in, thats exactly how I played when I was scum last time
Vote Korvalain

Switching votes, just wanting to get the lynch.

View PostSilanah, on 14 March 2012 - 10:33 PM, said:

Only 2.5 hours left in Day 1 and still no lynch? Surprising... Normally we get lynches easily on Day 1...
OK. A Korvalain lynch seems unlikely, a Karosis lynch seems likely with about half the votes needed already on him. I see no other option for a lynch that we can pull together in 2.5 hours so, sorry Karosis...
Vote Karosis

And again!! Definitely scummy play!!!!

View PostSilanah, on 14 March 2012 - 11:17 PM, said:

2 more votes

This makes him look very eager to get the lynch.

...................................................................................................................................................................................................

The fact that Silanah is, of course, a definite CI, makes the point I'm trying to make here all the stronger, I believe. It's very very easy to twist any random post and say it looks scummy. Let's have some shape and structure behind it, and a conclusion. Otherwise it's simply trying to crowbar random quotes to fit a gut belief, rather than substantive.

I see a lot of back & forth between Atrahal & numerous people, like he's in a running fight. Some of these arguments are a bit tough for me to distill, but I haven't seen anything that grabbed me.

@Korv - don't avoid the thread out of anger, you might miss a chance to rant at someone

Actually I was one of the ones accused by mathematical formula. Although even in my nonsensical ramblings I didn't take it seriously.

In this particular case, pragmatism. Because Karosis may have been a good target for a faction to try and recruit, since they could be reasonably sure that he was in fact just a regular townie on whom a recruit attempt would be successful. That thinking leads to the conclusion that we would then lynch him on day 2 just in case that that was what had happened, so it stood to reason to get rid of him there and then. Not great, but only sensible solution at that juncture really.
