Math still wonky

Honestly at this point I don't know why I am not surprised that the man thinks that the American people are the most stupid and gullible people on earth. A campaign who's only highlights are taking words out of context and out right lies.

Nah, he just creates a lower-rich class (+100k < 250k) that no-one has ever heard of which he will tax the hell out of, then misnamed it in an interview. Slip of the tongue (or, perhaps even better: spin to not confuse the masses).

Can happen if you're busy saving the economy by cutting taxes and closing loopholes.
It is just like the 47%: unfortunate phrasing.

But love the article, as well as the linkies it provides. Honestly, who in their right mind apart from 250k+ earners wants to vote Romney?

None, but then again most of romney's supporters aren't in their right mind. The question to be asked however is how large is that demographic?

Well he is right it would be dangerous to have a window on a flight open. Hey you know what helps fire? Oxygen. Hey you know what causes a plane to be-decompressed and crash. Opening a window or door on a plane. It is like he has never seen any of the action movies that take place on a plane. He should see Passenger 47 Wesley snipes is in it. He doesn't like to pay taxes either.

Okay, these comments are definitely worth a skim.

Wow, I have to apologize to the Governor. I thought he was being a bad person by putting his dog on the roof of the car. Turns out he honestly just didn't understand why that would be bad.

When I'm President, Air Force One will have windows that open, I can tell you that.

I'm surprised he didn't realize there would be explosive decompression, he should be familiar with that issue based on his campaign the last 3 weeks.

This must be from The Onion.

Quote

Q: Why didn't Romney reference oxygen masks? A: Because he's flown on private jets for so long, he's probably unaware that they even exist because he's never seen a commercial airlines flight attendant's demonstration!

Is he the same person who wanted to know why we hadn't landed a man on the sun yet?

The press just wants to jump on anything Mitt Romney says because they hate him and they hate America and are cheering for Obama.

  • The religious right who have convinced themselves that god votes Republican.
  • Pro-life folks, whether religious or not, who think that all Democrats want abortion clinics on very corner.
  • The 20% or so of people who still claim to think Obama wasn't born in the states.
  • The ridiculous number of people who simply vote straight party because it's too difficult to actually learn anything about anybody in any election, but still want to "have done their civic duty" by voting.
  • The "he's white" people. And yes I know there is a bunch on the other side who vote "he's black". I am not saying that I agree with any of them; just dealing with the reality of their existence.
  • The people who believe that all it takes to get rich is hard work and therefore vote with the $250k and up because they expect to be in that group in 10 or 20 years.

Romney sports fake tan at Hispanic event, has to bus in supporters to fill room, who then proceed to ignore Univision protocol by turning the show into a rally.

Here's something he said on 60 Minutes in response to a health care question: “Well, we do provide care for people who don’t have insurance,” he said in an interview with Scott Pelley of CBS’s “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday night. “If someone has a heart attack, they don’t sit in their apartment and die. We pick them up in an ambulance, and take them to the hospital, and give them care. And different states have different ways of providing for that care."

I don't know if he's feigning amnesia or what, but that might be among the most disingenuous answers he's ever given. Let's set aside the cold-heartedness of the response. Not only did he personally establish what he thought was the best state-level response to this phenomenon, it included the personal mandate specifically because it's the fiscally responsible answer to the fact that everyone not lost at the bottom of an old mineshaft will require medical attention at some point, insured or not. And since we're a civilization, we don't opt to start refusing medical service to the poor (as Justice Scalia suggested). This isn't an argument so much for or against Obamacare though, it's the fact that Romney is playing dumb about an issue he very much has first hand experience with. The whole "good for MA but never meant federally" argument was already tired the first time he made it during the primary debates -- and that was before video came out with him saying the direct opposite, and therefore before the times he repeated his response in later debates despite having been proven a liar.

All that is to say, how in the hell in September 2012 is Romney gonna revert all the way back to "the system was fine as it was before Obamacare".

Y'know, that particular piece of writing isn't quite grounded into something I'd call reality, even if it is a column. The entire second bit is just moaning how nothing changed the past 4 years. It completely bypasses the simple fact that policy isn't made or reversed in a day but seems to run with some weird concept that the world can be changed within a day. Basically, it is 'yes we can' delusion.

I don't think he was trying to imply it could be changed in a day; I think he was just trying to convey how amazing it is that, even after the financial disaster of 2008, a candidate like Romney has a chance. And it's true that Obama can't really get aggressive when it comes to what Romney represents because of the compromises he has made in policy-making. I'm hoping that will change in a second term where Obama doesn't have to worry about getting reelected (and maybe, hopefully has a majority in Congress to work with), but the point is that he can't really get too critical of Romney's ideology without being hypocritical.

Which is why the debate/s are going to be very interesting to watch. Obama has to walk that fine line as you said and Romney has to try and convince voters that he actually does care about the majority of the population, which will be a pretty hard sell I imagine.

I found a nice little article on the Iranian nuclear bomb threats over the years.

Irans Nuclear program

Netanyahu has been hollering about it since 1992. By his calculation Iran has had the bomb at least 6 times since then. Now he is trying interject his dumb ass into the US presidential race. You kind of have to admire a man who only knows one tune but plays it repeatedly for the last 20 years. Kind of like how you admire a mentally retarded adult who can live by himself.

Well, Netanyahu's a hawk. And all calculations have been taken into account when Iran could produce a nuclear bomb should they want to. That process is defined at a year for the making of a bomb, another 2 to develop it as a missile instead of an airdrop or placed device.

Basically, I guess it isn't so much the science as it is about obtaining and installing the hardware, and Iran's govt has, so far, not made any publicly published moves towards that point apart from in speeches. That partly explains the overclocking on Bibi Netanyahu's schedule.

Essentially, he was fear mongering then and he is fear mongering now.
The Delft Technical University here in the Netherlands could probably produce an A-bomb in 3-6 years time if given the money and the assignment. Doesn't mean it is going to, or that a Danish bombardment of the campus is in order.

The pdf linked below, by a load of USA political and military bigwigs, explains that Israel has no capability to set Iran back, that the US has, but only of several years at the very best, and that the fallout on a political level is going to be horrible, not in the least because it will worsen the American geopolitical position and invigorate the recruitment of terrorists.

Are they sheeple Gem?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
