Briar King is from Louisiana. If Bobby Jindal, Governor of Louisiana, is chosen for VP I'll be stunned.

That's an instant lose for Republicans. I'd be glad if they did though. Baby steps and all.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Either of these folks win..we lose..geez!

I don't like Romney. Obama should prove to all they are just liars to the core.

Its a sad state when you realize in your elected government they really don't give a shit.

http://en.wikipedia....totalitarianism

Yup!

"Wolin believes that the United States resembles Nazi Germany in one major way without an inversion: the essential role that propaganda plays in the system. According to Wolin, whereas the production of propaganda was crudely centralized in Nazi Germany, in the United States it is left to highly concentrated media corporations, thus maintaining the illusion of a "free press".[12] Dissent is allowed, although the corporate media serves as a filter, allowing most people, with limited time available to keep themselves apprised of current events, only to hear points of view which the corporate media deems to be "serious".[13]"

Ask people who Jamie Dimon is? Do u know...These people are ruining your life and u don't even know it.

Im in the camp that thinks we should execute crooks with a bullet to the brain just like we should with shooter in colorado.

Sorry Peace won't ever exist in this world. Some people just don't care and want EVERYTHING fing thing.

It won't be a Nic post without me throwing some zero hedge in:

http://www.zerohedge...ailout-everyone

But I realize I'm a radical..not in the norm. F the norm.

So the government you don't trust at all should be in charge of shooting "crooks" to death?
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

...just like we should with the shooter in Colorado.

And that's not even taking into account that once more, there is no connecting thought between the drivel you dump here and want us to consider. What has politics to do with shooting crooks? What have the bailouts to do with that?

It has been said before: if you want to be taken seriously, make sure your posts are legible, constructed with clear paragraphs, explanations and quotations and sentence structures that allow for easy absorption of what you wish to bring across. Until then, my 1.5 year old nephew makes more sense, and his vocabulary consists of little more than 'yes', 'no', 'bird', 'car', 'high five', 'finished', and 'I did a poo'.

@ worry. I think its a very basic argument that we should all come to..that the government shouldn't play that role. We as citizens should realize there is no need to keep him alive. Study..maybe!!!. Sorry your government will keep him going until he dies of natural causes. What?? No WRONG. I'm religious as shit...sorry he is history..send the message down the line. Invest the money given to keeping him alive into freaking mental health already. Invest more money into mental health. Figure out the problem wasn't the weapon he picked up...he could have atomized gasoline as 1 gallon is 15 sticks of dynamite..put the money into mental freaking health..This system is completely neglected for very real reasons. Figure it out. Follow the money..... :)

Really Tapper... I really must struck a nerve so I apologize. Really. I don't know where exactly that bothers you. But sorry. Really. I realize I think differently than you and that is a GOOD thing. I like that. If everyone agreed with me this may create problems. :) I still am holding onto my statement. We should think differently..F reality when everyone agrees with you that would be rather upsetting and quite boring.

Interesting question you pose, why should we shoot crooks? Damn in my head it makes complete sense from how I perceive reality. I guess its a hard thing to explain, but ill try, so humor me. I guess we should discuss what type of crooks ? what is your perception of what these people do compared to severity of crimes caused.. IF i told you there whole goal was to make money, bribe there way out anything they do..including killing people. Would you understand that is the more of a norm than you may perceive? However most don't see it therefore it does not occur, because they are just that powerful. It would be tough to see down the line..Right now they are everywhere. It's rampant beyond belief. I don't know some people actually have the belief that these people are just going on their merry day and trying for the goodness of everyone. No. Some just want to hire hookers, snort blow and f anyone in their path to accomplish 1 and 2.

Ok imagine for a moment you are retiring. you worked your whole life and through your level of intelligence and working for 40 years invested in a lot of different things. Well guess what you guess wrong..society say that is on you. However you really just got scammed over as it was total bunk. You are now a 60 + year old <Age discrimation exists buddy> who is broke. This is really cognitive dissonance from society, but they have their own problems. Most of these people check out.

/shudder. Think for a moment this is you.

You have to bring these people to justice. Most don't want to perceive you want to believe which I feel you...it's much much worse than they are telling you all. They are lying to you.

Law without justice is Tyranny.
If the government cannot bring justice out, the people will. People you really won't like will decide the solutions that need to be made. It will be quick and furious and very soon.
This will be terrible and catastrophic. It will hurt you and me alike.

Ah, so lynch mobs. They have a history of even-handedness and deliberation.

Ohio has introduced a new tactic in their broader attempts to make it even harder for Democratic voters to get to the polls this year. Early voting stations in Ohio’s heavily Democratic counties will only be open between 8 am and 5 pm, while Republican counties have expanded their hours to allow voting on nights and weekends.

How is that not considered cheating? Surely everyone should have the same opportunities to vote...

Aaaand Paul Ryan gets the VP nod.

This race just changed dramatically. Before the bottom line was whether or not Obama failed on the economy, and whether or not Mitt could do better. From here on out it's going to be a race between two distinct ideologies. And I don't mind telling you, Ryan's ideology scares the shit out of me.

I disagree with 99% of the stuff you say Nico but I truly do value your posts because like you say, everyone should think differently. I love it when somebody brings up a point of view that is completely opposite my own. Don't ever change.

I don't really follow American politics much anymore, so I had to do a bit of reading on Paul Ryan. Am I missing something or does his plan for economic reform consist of:
- Replacing capital gains taxes with a federal sales tax
- Lowering taxes on the top few percent and (once the sales tax is added in) effectively raising taxes for everyone else
- Reducing/eliminating corporate taxes
- Privatising Medicare
- Dismantling and/or offloading responsibility for social programs to the states

Those are more or less the key points of the Ryan Plan, yes.

And you can be absolutely certain that if he could accomplish these things, his very next steps would be to:
-Dismantle public education and privatize it as much as possible.
-Raise the retirement age and gut social security.
-Either close the Environmental Protection Agency or remove all of its teeth.

Paul Ryan is a Tea Partier, make no mistake about it. He's just a smart, eloquent Tea Partier who knows how to play the long game and isn't blowing his load all over the place over social issues to drum up hype with evangelicals.

I thought the EPA had already lost most of its teeth with the Superfund going unfunded, or has funding been reinstated since the Bush years?
Regarding education, reading between the lines in "The Path to Prosperity" it certainly sounds like student loans and Pell Grants are on his list of programs to privatise and cut respectively. On a side note, are all party publications written in such a partisan way? I can't take it seriously in parts with all the references to Obama policies being driven by crony politics etc.
The other bit that caught my eye was that it sounds like he is all for removing the banking/financial regulations that were brought in after the housing crisis, and perhaps even more beyond that.

With this choice for Romney's VP, I will be cheering on Obama from the sidelines.

Like Gwynn, this philosophy scares the shit out of me. This is so economically/socially/morally retarded as to verge upon intentional sabotage of the country. You could draw up a worse plan, but it'd be hard to do it without introducing something like overt genocide.

If any interested parties have time to spare, or haven't seen it yet, check out the film Koch Brothers Exposed. It's a short-ish documentary, not terribly well-made but (IMO) informative and (also IMO) credible and terrifying.

My two cents is that Paul Ryan has their agenda to a T (like pretty much every Tea Party politician with political clout and substantial financial backing.) Again, he just has the smarts to implement it in the long term.

Anyhow, you can easily watch the documentary if you google "koch brothers exposed online free" and follow the current bottom link.

Well, it'll be an election where "they are just the same" can't be used for voter apathy in not voting.

God I hope Obama and Biden can adequately get across their substantive message, or more appropriately, get across the Ryamney's positions as they apply to actual people and aren't drowned out by the PAC noise.
