I understand America politics through the lense of the average voter is proud of their ignorance and 'cracked pool politics' which is the very real example of a town rather draining its pool and no one getting to swim than allowing black people to use it as well. American voters have internalized a democrat or republican identity, or are swayed by a basic check on 3 issues; abortion, guns, and taxes. After that its about denying benefits to the wrong people. Maybe that's black people, or gays, or trans people, or woman, the poor, the disabled or even just people from the wrong state but many Americans have very strong opinions about who is and isnt deserving. What they deserve from their government is no longer even a consideratio because a universal right means it will help the wrong people too.

I also think Abyss is right in that many Trump voters didnt vote for trump, they voted against Biden or Kamala. A black women is a serious liability in the states, it just is. Also there is a reason the midterms always swing against the encumbent party here. Its a reactionary vote against the status quo not necessarally for the promised change.

4. Noem and him have been married for 35 years I think, and have grandkids....so the idea that when she was vetted, this was not known is a lie. They knew. Sidebar, this also made her a blackmail target for espionage as a secret.

5. Noem saying she's shocked by this is hilarious....she's not shocked. I would put good money on this being the reason she stepped out with Lewandowski into an extra martial affair...because I guess she didn't know how to deal with a cross dressing husband who clearly likes to be a sub? I dunno.

Anyways, I think the thing I pull from this is just like Lindsay Graham constantly voting against his own closeted ass to keep in power, the same is true here, Noem was willing to vote against things like this and so was Byron...so they garner no sympathy from me on how salacious these headlines are now.

You might argue that communism is also a governmental system, except it's more accurately described as governmental control of the means of production. The government (ostensibly) being "the people". Funny thing being, every government in history that was described as being "communist" (self described as socialist) was such in name only, and in reality was simply another feudal style hierarchy, after replacing the previous one with an even worse one. Kleptocracy is another far better description, along with oligarchy or plutocracy later on.

Agreed, and I'll add that there are also different types of communism in the world, North Korean communism might look more like the Cold War soviets (though as you said it looks more like a feudal hierarchy with the Kim's as the ruling dynasty), but Chinese communism is filtered almost entirely through capitalism and looks more like "extreme socialism" just with a government that operates like Chinese monarchies level of control too...these things are wildly different but they all get mentioned in the west as the same thing in breath with like libraries, and education and roads...

But yeah, even my sister does the "conflate socialism with communism thing" and it drives me batty.

Chromosome tests are bizarre for sport and not needed. For the most part, sports have a bifurcation that happens along common gender lines because sports are meant to be for everyone and this was a perceived easy way to do that. The professional sports level are a small sliver of those who participate and it's basically all Rowling etc focus on because they're moldy rutabagas that enjoy having an outgroup to clobber from within their in-group.

My read is that JKR is probably a bit gender fluid and very obsessed with protecting the sanctity of her vision of women's bodies - even to the point of not listening to hundreds of thousands of women (and men) who've been telling her to stop.
